I am quite suprised that Guru's actualy rodium plated the white gold, as when I asked him if they did this he said no (was in Dec 06).
However, as for being trustwothy, I would have thought so but couldn't say for definate. I did buy a ring from him in Dec 05 & when I had it valued it is worth 3 times more than what we had paid. He is aware that his shop is discussed on this site, so you could tell him that you do submit reviews on here (that's what I did, infact I took him to the elephant shop next door & showed him the site).

I am going jan 27th if you ring Hamish in Guru and tell him you are sending me the rings here I will get them fixed and send them back to you when I come home feb 11th.
he knows me so dont worry and dont woory about trusting me, I have don eit before for someone and if I stole your rings I would lose my very good uniformed job.
I'm really disappointed to hear bad reports about Guru - never heard a bad one before. I still owe him for my last ring - better get it checked out before I pay!!!
thanks for the replys guys. me too am suprised at the condition as gurus is so highly rated. dont get me wrong very happy with the diamond had it tested and rings are worth more here. but its not good when your rings turns gold from a silver colour in three weeks..and then you are told y a jeweler it is cheap gold and made with cracks in the mount!!!...i read on the posts someone bought a ring that too went yellow gold from white gold, at gurus...so why dont they rodium plate it thats the only way for it to stay white in colour no one should buy white gold in goa then..he better rodium plate them!!!!.am waiting for guru's to text me the address where too send it for repare i am sure he will not make me unhappy again. thanks vegasome for the offer i will wait to hear what gurus texts back if i send them recorded delivery and they send them back the same i am sure it will be fine if not i will be going back to goa soon anyway and i am sure he will not want to face one unhappy customer.
heard back from guru very good at getting back to me, called me when he said he would......better than anyone i have dealt with here in uk as here you gotta keep chasing when you want things sorted don't we all uk people !!!! arranging to send rings back through a friend of his from uk..whom is going out there for two weeks..and will take them to him.......hopefully being positive things will turn out fine just have to wait and see..hope they dont loose their suite case !!!!!!..dont let it put you off buying from themi went in every jewelers in candolim pajim and i felt guru to be the only one i felt genuine all the other jewelers diamond certificate was just a printed up piece of paper with their name of their shop on it ....even in chandras......but guru gave me a genuine certificate from the international gemological institute.just check your jewlery with a fine tooth comb,i am sure alot of jewelery is ok i was just unlucky and spent alot!!!........hopefully it will turn out to be worth it.....watch this space
Do not send recorded delivery as this travels with the normal post (no compensation and only tells you whether there has been a signature the other end, if it is lost, its basically hard luck). You have to send them Special Delivery (travels securely) and insure it up to what the items are valued at.
he will prob ring me and tell me to get them from you
I had a text message yesterday from Haresh (requesting a contact number), I believe it's a friend of mine taking your ring to Goa. I have been dealing with Guru's for the last 6 years and all our rings are in white gold never had a problem.
hi thankyou for your posts i dont know your real name vegasome but i have sent the rings to a lady in somerset called jackie by special delivery i have text harish at guru to may be change the rings to yellow gold.....i am very pleased for you kev that you have not had any problems with the white gold from gurus but i have.one ring is practically yellow and the other two are starting to turn,in places.opefully will all be fine though i know white gold fades eventually but not that quickly.
its not me then. My rings need doing every time I go to Goa..maybe I need a word with him
hi vegasone, oh its not you then!!i thought it would be.He just text me and gave me an address in uk said it was his friend, today i went into another jewelers here they said white gold may need re rodium plating once a year it depends how thick the metal is they put on it, they said its better to get yellow gold, or platinum but i dont think they do platinum in goa ??...white gold is a gold mixed with other metals...i didnt realise it was such a headache to deal with.even once a year is a pain to re plate.
In candolim at present and me and daughter just bought ring each from guru - they are beautiful so fingers crossed - I thought he had the loveliest jewellery in Candolim
best infact i still think so, even though my rings mount is not not good and they faded in colour, i still think gurus is the best jewlers there.they are genuine about their diamonds that is the most important! hopefully i can post a really good report and not a bad one once my rings come back will let you know people.....
i agree i felt gurus was the best jewlers in goa,not just candolim i looked in panjim and calangute and south goa.it's a lovley shop very well set out, very professional they are very polite and helpful alot of the others i did not trust avoid the really small jewlery shops and shops that specialize in bags wallets and jewelery only big jewelers go to.and if buying diamonds make sure it has no carbon in it or flaurecence or big incluisions theywould tell me the diamond i looking at was a vs1 quality, i could see the diamond was no way vs1 quality probably the cheapest you can get with carbon in it and heavily included, i started to become a diamond expert the amount of jewlers i went in and information i got.and through all the information i got, i was happy that guru was the
I'm confused re the white gold thing - I bought a ring in Barbados 6 years agao and wear it every day and have never taken it off. but the is no yellow showing through. by the way I bought a whitr gold ring in Goa last year and that was ok. bought two in December and have worn them every day since no yellow, as yet, showing through
What Gurus is selling is plated gold and should be described as such.
hi white gold is gold mixed with other metals as far as i am aware platinum is not one of them ......they have and do use nickel in the mix, yellow gold is gold gold, wether 9ct or 18 ct or 24ct... there is no such thing as (white gold ) gold is yellow.to get the desired colour it must be mixed as you say with other metals.Once mixed ,white gold looks dull......so they rodium plate it which gives it its shine, when the rodium plate wares off it should be dull and have a light yellow tinge come through this should happen not that often and when it does it needs re rodium plating.............the rings i bought in white gold went yellow in three weeks not right huh!..........i prefer silver colour hence the white gold but i wish i could of bought platinum!!!!.........if your ring has stayed white in colour from barbados and goa it was done well... regards gracie
oh and if he has just plated them which could be thats why it wore off so quickley.but the yellow was very pale i think it was mixed but the rodium was far too thin as it wore off in a couple of weeks...will just have to see what he does if he re rodiums them they should last a long time, or if he changes the rings to yellow gold they better not be plated.most of all i hope the mount is re done properly without cracks!
cheaper white gold they use nickel, the good quality gold is white under the rodium plate the poor quality white gold will be browny to yellow under the rodium..............so i guess i bought cheap white gold hence the yellow.........so to guru i want myrings change d to pure 18 ct yellow gold thanks!!!!!!!
i just looked on the net and got a pretty good explanation of white gold........the better quality white gold is mixed with better alloys like platinum and zinc,(like you say) the
Just to let you know - one ring valued at 5 times more, the other nearly 4 times more!! I always said I had expensive taste!!
