Hi DebJ, it depends where you are flying from. I've had flights at all times from airports I can fly from. I have flown from Cardiff, Bristol and Heathrow.

weve always flown from manchester and there flight times have generally been very good ie-07.30am so you still have some of the day left when you get there

As my friends CL and Hevleigh have mentioned, flights into Larnaca are throughout the day (most Tour Operators fly Weds or Sun from the UK). There are scheduled flights every day of the week (from somewhere), although winter can be a little tricky getting to Larnaca, but I digress...

Now, Tour Operators often have exclusive arrangements with accommodation, meaning that they block-book the place for their customers.

What this means to you, perhaps, is that if you are stuck with using Airtours for your preferred accommodation; Airtours use MyTravel for their flights (same people)...

...then Mytravel fly to Larnaca from: Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Durham Tees Valley, Gatwick, Humberside, Leeds/Bradford, Manchester, Newcastle, East Midlands and Stansted.

hi DebJ, i can't offer any hope to you on this but totally agree that the flight times from manchester to lantiana and rising star(airtours etc) are totally pants. we had the same trouble last year so stayed at the brilliant apts with thomson, paid large supplements for an 8.30am flight only to be delayed 8 hours. the only decent flying times again this year are with thomson and first choice, the best accommodation on offer similar is again the brilliant(thomson) and vangelis(first choice) in protaras. In 2005 we went to the lantiana with airtours on a great morning flight with spanair. i don't know why it stopped in 2006.

I have just been on Airtours web site and they fly from birmingham to Larnaca at 0710 arriving in Larnaca at 1400., that was in may and also on the 5th september 2007

I have just looked at a holiday in the Lantiana, were i have stayed before, for september and the flights are there for the early morning so i dont know how other people cant see them.

just thought i had to point out that as i live 10 miles from manchester airport i have never considered birmingham or any other airport as an option. obviously living so close means friends and family will often drop us off so we're not incurring car parking rates or taxi fares. with 2 young children we have always tried to make the flying/travelling times as favourable as possible.

Arriving and leaving at daft o'clock has its advantages.

We had this scenario for the first time last year. It is the fastest in and out we've ever had, due to there seeming to be less flights arriving (at both ends).
I was driving away in our hire car within 20 minutes of getting off the plane (at 11:25 pm, Cyprus time) in Larnaca, and home within 35 minutes of getting off the plane in the UK!

We've chosen the same flight this year, too.

We recently travelled to Newcastle both out and on returning during peak times ie we had to be there 9am and returned at 5pm. The traffic was horrendous both ways - plus on both legs there were accidents with huge tail backs. They were on the other carriage way both times but could have easily been on our side. Going out we would definitely have missed our flight as it was a tanker that had over turned. Hubby and I both agreed that there was something to be said for early hour flights.
