There are a load of electrical shops in the arcade below Parque Santiago 3 (opposite the mini golf) They sell DS stuff. Also the shops in the safari centre do too. Hope this helps. Have a great time.

Is it cheaper there for games?

Would they work in a UK system (PAL?) and be in English?

Never thought about buying things like this abroad

Be careful what you buy.

A lot of these shops will sell you anything. Find out prices locally for you and on the internet. Shops like MAYA etc.are trustworthy, but a lot of the others are gansters,

Billyboy.

agree with you Billyboy. Before you fly out I would check the prices in the duity free dixons at the airport. You can find out by checking on your chosen airports website.

How do you check the price? I can only see that there's one there but no way of checking prices and stock...

Andrew - There should be a telephone number somewhere next to the stores listing.

We priced them last year in a few shops under PS3,bit cheaper but not much and you would have to use an adaptor when you get home.

Hi,

If you are buying any games, ask if the game menus are in English!!! I found it very difficult to find any in LC and LA!!!!! and avoid prices "that are too good to be true"
Cheer's,

Thank you all for your replies, I will be very wary & I will just stick to buying accessories rather than games.

We have bought PSP and the games in Tenerife. Just check that they are compatible for Europe and not America. Never had any problems. Regarding needing an adaptor when you get home, most electrical shops will throw in an adaptor plug that you can use when you get home but in all honesty it is not necessary as we use the same voltage you can just put an English plug on when you get home, (husband is an electrician so I know  ) We have done this on the chargers for several things, PSP, Video Cameras, Digital Cameras, MP4 players. We always use one of the Electrical shops in Fanabe and have never had any problems that you often read about with the staff. We always haggle with the price and have always been happy with what we have paid - always cheaper than in the UK.

Hope this is of some help to you

We arrived back from PDLA last week and while there looked for a DS Lite for our son, we ended up not buying one, mainly because the shop workers in the shopping complex below Santiago Park told us a good price to get us into their shop and then continued to build up the price once they had our full attention, be aware of this because they will try and sell you the whole shibang, dont get me wrong, they are nice people just trying to make a living. I did get a cheaper DS back in the UK.

Hi everyone,

I thought I would post a little info on the DS for those who are thinking of buying in Tenerife. I found the games & accessories comparable prices to the UK, sometimes they were quite alot more expensive. I got a price on the consoles and they are a fair bit cheaper ranging from 105-119 Euro's the DS retails at around £99 in the UK so you can make a £30 ish saving if you get it for 105 :D
