I seriously wouldn`t bother, you can hire car and driver for about £10 a day, I take it you havn`t been to Goa or India before

Actually, this will be our third time in Goa.

Am curious and would just like some info on the question I asked.

Nice idea of hiring a car, 800 to 900 for a open gypsy is awsome fun. and make sure you dont take a jeep as its just 3 gears and not maintained at all. i hired a jeep from calangute on the 31st december for 1,100 per day and we hiried 2 enfields for 600 per day on 30th december and 2 sports bikes (Kawasaki Ninja, 600cc) for 3,000 per dayon 1st January 2007. awsome fun when you have the mean machines with you.

Its just my husband and I got a bit fed up up with getting ripped off by taxi drivers. We have been to goa twice and still manage to get ripped off somehow. Had a bad experience the first time we went when we decided to go to Vagator one day. When we got there we had to virtually abseil down the side of a mountain to get to the beach. When we finally got to the beach, there were no sunbeds available and we were suddenly surrounded by no less than nine female beach sellers who would not leave us alone, not good when you're not used to it and I was feeling very ill that day (I ended up in Vrundavan Hospital a few days after, but thats another tale!) When we eventually climbed back up with the intention of asking our taxi driver to take us somewhere else on the off chance he might still be there,but he was gone, so we were stranded there until he came back and a valuable day of our holiday was wasted.

That why we want to hire a car a few times while we're there, so that when we go somewhere different, if we don't like it we can move on somewhere else.
