I do this all the time when self catering just even dump the box for more spaace
There are El Cortes Ingles supermarkets there which stock everything you will need. The one in Puerto Banus is huge and stands on about 4 floors if my memory serves me right.
If you can't take enough with you there are lots of pet shops in the shopping centres and they seem to stock a similar product
