Been buying jewellery in Goa for a few years now with mixed success. Worst was the Asian Jewellery House in Calangute High Street where we ended up with fake stones.
Wanted to buy new wedding rings this year to renew our vows and went on recommendation, so we used the jewellers at the Goan Royal Heritage Hotel @ Candolim (to the right of the reception) Guy called Feroz and his cousin run it.
So we ended up with two gold bands with diamonds set roud (7 in mine six in the wifes) cost £780. She also fell in love with a diamond solitaire which cost me £960.
Got home and sent them to Safeguard UK for valuation. My band £1,550, wifes band £1,400 and her solitaire.....get this £1,950...result!!
Would recommend Feroz anytime, tell him Ralph for Marina Dourada recommended him and you will definitely not be disappointed.
Back there in November 2007 to buy more.
It would seem, Littlepen, that we have visited the same jewellers with the same kind of success and failure. My Husband bought me a beautiful replacement engagement ring from Asian Jewellery House. Showed me a yellow gold but I wanted White, no problem, would make me one. Not cheap at nearly £700 but I was worth it. Within a couple of months the band was going yellow and the large sapphire came out, LOST. Took it back on next visit, no problem, replaced it, no charge, HMMM! Admitted that he had dipped to get the white gold and would do it again, Came back beautiful though still not happy that only a coating and not white gold. Anyhow, this year when I went back I too went to Goan Royal Heritage Hotel @ Candolim, Lovely genuine people, who gave me their opinion on the ring, stone replaced was not the right size, was a sapphire but not a good one, needless to say I am not impressed, obviously the value has decreased, was valued here originally at over double original cost. Goan Royal tempted me with what was a new sample design, beautiful, asked for a couple of changes to the stones, Beautiful and different. Will I be going back? I certainly will and am happy to recommend them to anyone.

Hi, I hope you are happy when your rings come back. Unfortunately I am so disappointed with mine. It is so beautiful but the stone being wrong has really upset me. I should have taken it back. A bit of an expensive thing to have done but hopefully will do on my next trip. I am totally satisfied that the one I had bought for me last visit is actually white gold and not yellow dipped. Good luck.
the white gold wore off within a week of getting home.
The wedding bands are great, but the engagement ring is not set straight.and as it is hand made, not so nice, i took it to a jewler, who said india is great for its diamonds, but they are not the best in making rings.!!also when he looked at the ring he said it is not finnished off well, you can see the file marks..a bit of as bodge job.....i am going to get it re set here in the uk, for £150 then i will be happy.just make sure you check your rings with a fine tooth comb.
and the larger wedding band wass £100 is worth £275 and the smaller wedding band was £100 and worth£210 so al in all
we paid £1700
and have rings worth £4,485
would recommend buying in india just make sure they are made to your satisfaction.
Good luck everyone
Anyway I could go on for ages ...they are good guys and always very helpful, I have recommended them so many times and will continue to do so.
So if you have a problem, just call them..both their mobile numbers are on their business card and I'm pretty certain they will help.
Just to say we have been using Guru Jewellers for seven years now and we have found them very trustworthy and nice people to deal with, when we have had a problem it has been sorted out with minimal fuss and we shall always use them. Haresh is the man to deal with and he is very fair, he will come down on price but he know's his job very well and would not drop to a silly price because he know's that he is selling quality.
Every time we have had our jewellery valued in England it has been at least three times what we paid for it and we also have two friends, one who is a diamond merchant and one who is a very good jeweller and both have said it is very good quality what he is selling.
Recommended again and again and again.
Please tell Haresh that you were recommended by Mike and Carol, you never know you might get more discount many of our friends have.
