Hi,
We fly out in less than 2 weeks, has anyone just got back ? Is it still quiet or is it getting busier ?
Rachael
our friends got back from baga on friday 26th jan and they sais it was heaving.lots of indians on holiday.also still very cheap.it was their 4th time
When I think back to how lovely Baga was 15 years ago it makes me sad.
Next time we are heading south, we have had some great holidays in Baga but its time to move on.
We couldn't wait to get back to our quiet resort to chill out again, but everyone to their own.

If only we lived like that at home, wouldn't need to go all that way to Goa then.
We came back Jan 15 after 6 weeks staying in South Calangute, which is a lot quieter than Central Calangute, but the general concensus of opinion among everyone we spoke to was that this season had been quiet, the supposed terrorist threat was one of the reasons given. Regarding the empty shacks, I can only put that down to the amount of them now all along the beach from Baga to Sinquerim, there really needs to be some restriction on the number by the authorities, but this is Goa- baksheesh rules- afterall..................Barney
I hadnt been to Goa for a few years in Jan, as last year we went in April which was end of season.
Ive got to say, i think it was quite busy this year, but not as busy as previous years.
The top end of baga beach( near squeeze shack and the river) was always busy.
But if you walk to the steps at calangute and carry on as if your heading towards candolim, but dont go as far as candolim, you will find a few shacks which dont have many people there at all. Your still on calagute beach, but with the feeling your somewhere down south or further up north because it is so quiet
Weve always found that Baga beach is really busy with sunbeds squashed close to each other and what seems like millions of sellers. We always stay in Candolim and use the shacks and beds there, they also have security on and only allow a few sellers. I for one hope its not to busy when we go on the 26th March for 2 glorious weeks.(wow and not flying with Monarch when we go to Calungute we love to sit and have a beer or three watching the goan world go by hahaha Love It One more thing how the **** can you even mention Blackpool in the same sentence!!!!!!!!!!!
friends of ours have returned from 6 weeks in Baga over the Christmas and New Year period and vowed (even though they own an apartment) never to go again at that time, the said that the amount of out of state tourists with their huge 4x4 and lack of consideration (or manners) when parking blocked the main road on numerous occassions.
Is Goa generally busy now or has it quietened down a bit?
cheers Lyn x
We leave tomorrow after two weeks, Most restuarants and shack owners say that the last two weeks or so has been the busiest of the whole season apart for the new year period, I,m in agreement with some ot the previous posts, far too busy for me. Next season we'll be here either before xmas or after the mid term holidays, although the way the huge increase of local tourists, year after year, I fear our 20 year love affair with Goa may be drawing to a close Alan
Nearly every seller, shack and restaurant owner appeared concerned about the quietness of January.
For me Candolim to Baga is finished unless you like Benidorm, Fuengirola etc. Stick a plastic table and chairs and serve cold beer in the sun and you will get any mad British loving it. This is not the real Goa.
Don't take the easy option and stay in Baga, Calangute and Candolim. If you use your imagination you can find better places than this in Goa.
Cheers Lyn x
And by the end of March I will have that phone number GL though it will be so tough walking along a gorgeous beach with the sun on my back watching the fishing boats, stopping at a shack or two for a cool kingfisher on route

I am in Calangute now and although the area seems a bit busy we don't bother with Calangute Beach at all as that place is a nightmare. We are choosing to scoot off to Coco Beach (chilled and friendlier). Vagator has too many sellers and Bombay Boys leering at westerners. Overall I would say that it isn't overly busy really.
hadojetty do you get a taxi to coco beach ?if so what is the cost? we are going to candolim on saturday and havn't been to coco beach have done asvem though and we loved it there
Sorry got your message too late-we have been paying 400rs for a return journey from Calangute to Coco Beach. Went to Morjim today-beautiful, there and back for 700rs. Nice to get away from it all.....
