Hi madkitty2003,
Don't know the Diamond hotel but Bodrum is a really lively Town - Still Turkish if you get away from the main streets - loads of Bars and great nightlife - Gumbet is only 10 minutes away and this really is PARTY TOWN ! .

Hope this helps .

thanks - I suppose we're not really looking for a party town but somewhere there is a lovely atmosphere at night

Hello!

Bodram is as Toffeeman says really lively, be aware though the beach is at Gumbet, even then I personally don't think much of it as a beach. Lovely harbour in Bodram with the crusader castle nearby, never stayed in Bodram but visited a couple of times and there is a good holiday atmosphere in the town in the evening must say though that is what it is, a fair sized town/city. Good shoppingg, excellent market, good transport links to other resorts. As for Gumbet? For me it is the pits!

Every dolmus in the area goes in and out of Bodrum. Bitez, Turgutries, Yalikavak, and so many more little places. They are all worth a visit, we like Bitez.
Haven't been to Olu, but don't think Bodrum is anything like it. Bodrum is more of a town, with a harbour and no beach. Gumbet is the beach area. You won't be short of anything to do, and the waterfront restaraunts are great.

Hi Madkitty

Don't know the Diamond hotel or it's location, but I do notice that you have visited Side.

Bodrum is a bit like Side insofar as most hotels are well away from the resort centre. Bodrum town however, is much larger than Side but just as atmospheric.

We are going to Side this summer and staying in the old-town. I assume that you will be stopping somewhere along the coast. Shopping in Bodrum is 24/7.

you will love bodrum ! There is certainly a lively atmosphere at night but its definately not like aya napa or ibiza. much more geared to cater for all ages . There are lots of great restaurants youll be spoiled for choice and you can have it as lively or as quiet as you like
