Hi Folks
Could someone please tell me exactly where El Fanar Beach is? I've seen it recommended a few times and also a restaurant that is there. I am staying in the Ras um sid area. Is it walkable or a cab ride?
Thanks Briar.
I knew I could rely on you. It sounds just our kind of place.

Thanks again. I am sure we wil try it there. We are only B&B in the hotel.
Yes we hope to eat out most evenings Briar, although we are only there for a week, so all recommendations will be greatfullly received.
El fenar beach you would want to go to is, if you take a taxi, down the hill below the light house, they normally try to stop at the top of the hill. It is 40 LE admission i think, (not if you are just eating) they have sunbeds in the beach area and it is very relaxed atmosphere.
As for other places to stay, I would recommend sinai star for great fish and Masrien for meat - both in old sharm. Another favourite of mine there is El Housen, its a bit hard to give directions, but if you ask someone in old sharm they could tell you. Or in Naama bay i like Dananeer for steak.

Where are you staying in Ras Um Sid ?? We were at the Hilton Waterfalls in 2005
El Fanar is a short walk -still doesn't stop the taxi's from trying though
We ate there a couple of times very nice food but the portion size were small even for Steph on Weightwatchers
So we ended up having all the starters and main and pudding and yes it was worth it
We also got there before sunset and sat outside in the bar area to watch the sunset

Enjoy yourself

Any closer and you'd be able to chuck rocks
you're about 200 metres away from it
Glad you liked the picture of the sunset I posted

The Waterfalls had a couple of building sites between it it's not AI the only restaurant worth anything in it was the Italian restaurant so the El Fanar is tops we didn't like the other restaurants in the hotel as there are better in Naama Bay
We particularly like the Teppanyaki restaurant near Sinai Divers
