Hello everyone,
I am looking for the perfect holiday! My boyfriend is really keen to visit pompeii etc. We are looking for a lovely hotel that is not too expensive (prob B&B but not really bothered about eating at hotels, we like to try lots of different things) or maybe self-catering, fairly close to the action so we don't have to worry about getting around, but is quite quiet for night time!!
Does such a place exist? We are on a budget that doesn't stretch to the hotel gran paradiso as we have to travel during school holidays but if there is something like it and cheaper that would be ideal! It doesn't have to be Sorrento.......

in 2005 i stayed in Sorrento at the Hotel Capri. it was slap bang in the middle of town, a lovely little hotel, clean tidy and the staff were all very friendly. it was quite cheap compared to other hotels around. it had a small pool out the back. we went half board and the food was lovely.

Thanks very much for your reply. This hotel has come up a few times but when i checked it out on trip advisor it had some really awful reviews. I was a bit worried but having heard from you it does seem like a good choice.

Hi, try the Admiral in Sorrento - we went there in August and it has a great location - right in the old part of town, with superb views and not bad prices for Sorrento - especially if you have a sea view. Re trip advisor : ignore the ones that say its terrible!
