Hi, does anyone have any info on the Williams Beach Resort, Colva.
Booked the above today travelling on the 15/03/07 from Manchester. As this is our first time to Goa any information about the resort ie. resturants, shacks, bars etc would be much appreciated.
Not seen this asked before, long + lat on Google Earth.
I returned on Fri 9th from my first trrip to Goa, staying in Colva, and although I didn't stay at the Williams, I ate in their bar/restaurant several times The hotel is well situated in the main area of Colva, about 400m from the beach. The hotel looks fine, with a good sized pool at the rear. There are plenty of beach shacks, my favourite was the Silver Spoon, which is further along the beach from the centre of Colva.
Another good shack is the Boomerang. Both have plenty of sunbeds which they don't charge for, provided you buy drinks and snacks from the bar. You can eat and drink all day for a couple of pounds! Other good restaurants in easy walking distance are Mickeys, Goodmans and Kentuckee (great steaks for 2 pounds!)
Anything else you want to ask, I'll do my best to answer. Wish I was going back in March!
Thanks lizspain for the info sounds great. Would Margao be worth a vist?

Margao is a dump and it's biggest attraction is the town rubbish dump.
However about 10 km north east of Margao is the village of Chandor, which used to be an old Capitol of Goa. The area around Chandor has some of the best preserved Portuguese houses in Goa - Lautolim, Casa Grande and the Breganza Villa.
My favourite is the Breganza Villa built by two brothers, each had his own wing of the house. These men were very influential people in their day. One wing has been partly restored, but the other is original and shows the way the house was when it was built. The houses are still privately owned by the Breganza family; and the half which is still original was occupied by a little old lady, a Breganza, in her eighties. She may well be dead now.
Both houses are full of treasures and well worth a visit. The ballroom is just fantastic. They have no state support and only expect a small donation.
Couldn't agree more. I went there last year to see if it was as I rememberd back in 1995. It was so busy I decided not to stop (we couldn't park anyway).

Thanks for that wont ba visiting Margao then. Can I get cash fron the ATM machines with my Maestro Debt Card.
Get a Nationwide Flexaccount debit card, they don't charge you anything anywhere in the world.
If you can, go to the spice plantation at Ponda. Taxis will take you there for about 500 rupees and wait for you. It's 300 rupees to get in, which includes a tour and lunch. Very interesting and informative, but don't buy any spices there as they are well overpriced.
I fancy a scooter for a couple of days. My other half fancies a car but I've not read any threads regarding availability and prices anyone help.
Kings is a small bottle of Pilsner.
