Hi all, I made the mistake of promising my fiance that I'd surprise her for our honeymoon, only telling her when we arrived at the airport.
She wants to go somewhere hot (daily sunbathing is essential), but doesn't want to get bored (hence those places with huts in the sea etc are out of the question).
It's going to be a once in a lifetime holiday, as I don't think we'll ever be able to afford to spend this much money on a holiday again, so I want everything to be perfect.
Someone recomended going to the ochos rios sandals, as they went their last August, and I must say, it sounds great, offering the chance of a real perfect honeymoon.
My concern however is that I keep reading that May/June in Jamaica is the rainy season, and I know my soon to be other half will be gutted if it rains all holiday (as will I with the amount we're planning to spend). We like to spend our day doing nothing but sunbathing (my better half) & reading by the pool (me :))
Can anyone comment on the weather from approx May 27th to June 11th.
How much rain should we expect, how often, and how long do the typical showers last. (similarly how often, and for how long are the worst showers)?
Additionally what can I expect the weather to be like? I like it hot!
Finally what do you think, is Jamaica a good place to spend a honeymoon?
All advice will be truly appreciated.
Concerning your queries on Jamaica in May or June, any time of year to visit Jamaica is good. If it does rain then it normally pours for half an hour and then stops. I feel if you find some reason not to visit a country, whether it be weather or for the chance their could be an earthquake, for example, then you'd never go anywhere. So don't let that spoil it. Hurricane season is more likely to be between July and September, however, I have lived in Jamaica and visited it several times, since having oved away, in July and August, and never had any problems, where the rain has spoilt the holiday.
Jamaica is a beautiful island with so many gorgeous places to visit, you could not visit all the places in one trip.
Have you looked at the hotel Couple Swept Away in Negril. I haven't stayed at the hotel but have stayed in Negril. Negril has one of the most beautiful beaches in Jamaica and is reknowned for it's sunsets. I walked past the hotel and was impressed by it. Or even Grand Lido in Negril. There are good reveiws on the tripadvisor website for both hotels and they are a couple of the top hotels in the area.
If you have any other queries feel free to ask. Good luck with booking the honeymoon and keep us posted.
Funky
We just spent two weeks at Couples Swept Away it was the best holiday ever, and a perfect place to spend your honeymoon it never got below 25 c at night, I paid for dinner on the beach on our last night as it was hubbies birthday and that was awesome a perfect end to the holiday a lot of money but worth every penny, at the airport they take you to their own lounge for a cold beer or drink whilst sorting transport and at the hotel you are greeted with an ice cold towel and Champagne! which is available at breakfast every day along with bloody Mary's unless you have breakfast served in your room ! I do not hesitate to recomend it and Honeymooners get a free massage too !!!
Done
my report on the resort only applies to the Hotel complex so really needs adding to the hotel report please !
Thanks Gill
