After our journey to Manchester, we had a great flight on Mytravel Premium Gold (i certainly hammered the 'free' bar) - the immigration went ok at Dabolim, waited a while for the suitcases - only one turned up - the other was still in Manchester - as you can imagine the amount of 'formalities' we had to complete to register our missing case were huge, we eventually left the airport an hour later having missed the bus, never mind we were here and we got a great suite at the Lagoa Azul overlooking the lake. I arranged my motorbike hire for the fortnight - Pulsar 180 for 200rps a day - got changed - went to Poojas bar for a few drinks at local prices - then headed of to All Spice for a great meal - I had my usual - the 2 tandoori chicken breasts - one stuffed with lamb mince and the other stuffed with prawns - wonderful.
The next day was spent down at Captains Cabin and then back off to the airport to collect our other case which had arrived on the Monarch flight in the afternoon. There was a right carry on trying to get into the airport, throught security and the getting case back off the customs officer, who wanted to scrutinise the contents of the case. After half an hour, he gave me my case and shook my hand - at least we had the case back.
I'll post later with some more of the highlights of our trip.
I would love to hear more about the Lagoa Azul as we are thinking of booking a suite there.
We stayed in a standard room last year - bed, seating area, tv, aircon, 'kitchen' area and fridge all in one big room all of this lead onto the balcony. This year we had a suite, which had a 'kitchen area' with fridge, seating area and tv - leading onto the balcony.
After staying in both rooms we would definately prefer the bedroom as opposed to the suite. We felt we did not need the extra room as we didn't spend any time in it apart from going to the fridge, whereas i9t was nice to watch the news from the comfort of our bed and even watch a late night movie on the cable.
We're going back next January and i'm going to ask for a normal room.
hope this helps
it's a great hotel, quiet, not too far away, great service, drinks at the bar are expensive, the mini bar is a decent price and the breakfasts are great - egg chef etc

These were our evening meals eating and drink what we wanted - all were 2 courses, sometimes 3.
Some other noteable inclusions for lunch were; Florentines in Saligao - very cheap and very tasty. Alcove beach resort at Little Vagator - good food - absolutely stunning setting for your lunch - great day out, you can use the facilities, pool etc and also walk down to the beach. As always, the best lunch in the world are the Garlic King Prawns (shell on) served by Johnny at the Hard Rock Cafe at Morjim Beach.
For the observant ones amongst you there are only 12 evening meals - the other 2 nights were spent at Ingoes Saturday night market where we ate; Pizza - wonderful, Souvlaki - great as usual and the Roast Beef served by the big German fella. On the second Saturday night we watched Apache Indian - a British Indian rap/ragamuffin artist who had the place jumpin!
More to follow.........
Paul
Great stuff, keep it coming I have booked a suite at Alcove for 3 nights next month, what a view from the balcony was the food and drink expensive at the Alcove ??
the food at alcove was reasonable - I had calde verdi soup (spinach) and an avacado prawn salad with a mix veg paratha. The soup was excellent(60rps) the prawn salad was different to the ones you get in the UK as the prawns were freshly cooked and peeled and the bread was great - full of fresh veg and herbs - it was nom more expensive than any other beach shack.
I will have to postpone writing my trip report as we're going to Krakow, Poland tommorrow morning for 4 nights - we'll see how it differs!
happy holidays
Paul&Amanda
good report thanks
Hi Hotxbun as you know we are booked for the Lagoa Azul for April. We are booked with First Choice and I think the booking says standard room, so will we just get put into a 'normal' room or might it change when we get there? The normal room sounds fine to me. You said the drinks were expensive at the bar, can you give us an idea on the prices? (Not that I am a drinker of course )
Glynis I will do one when I come home at the end of April
i will do one as well when i come back in april,,someone must of been there since dec...any reviews or info would be good
Many thanks both The reviews, as you can imagine, are very helpful to visitors and members alike.
