We were in Krakow in September and loved it. Our next trip minus the kids will probably be Riga in Latvia. It looks fabulous and Ryanair are now flying there.
My partner and I are similar age range, and the fact that you are considering Prague would lead me to suggest Istanbul.
We had possibly the best weeks holiday of our lives over Xmas 2005.
Wonderful sights, people, food and culture.
The memories will stay with us forever, especially being outside the Blue Mosque on Xmas day with a couple of inches of snow on the ground.
Also being a Muslim country, everything was open over the holidays.
I would suggest you consider staying in the Sultanahmet area of town, right amongst the tourist sites. There are lots and lots of lovely boutique hotels around.
I also understand that EasyJet are now flying there, although we got a great deal with Turkish Airlines.
Hope this helps.
we also have visited prague and warsaw recently and loved them both and have visited marrakech this month and really enjoyed it, surprisingly the weather was lovely and got really good flight prices with thomsonfly and hotel we booked direct with freedomdirect, for 5 nights it was a bargain and a really interesting place to see, lots of things to do and see, good luck where ever you decide to go
Thanks both. I wouldn't have thought of either country. From where did you fly to Istanbul?. As we live in Wales we have rather a long trek to get the cheap flights. Although Easyjet do some routes from Bristol we've been to most of the places. We've just booked 4 nights in EStonia from April 1st, but have nearly a 5 hour drive to Stansted first. Staying in an airport hotel the night before, but dreading the journey back.
We flew to Istanbul from Manchester with Turkish Airlines. Not exactly budget, but we got what we thought was a great deal - about £120 all inc - if memory serves.
