going to BKK and Phuket you wont need malaria tablets. There are several recommended vaccinations but none that are compulsory.
Which ones are recommended and when should you get them?
I'd check with your doctor- I think it is hepatitis A,typhoid, tetanus, polio, and tb. Malaria med is only needed if you are going into jungles- the real ones not the concrete ones
So far I've survuvued 10 years of living in Thailand and traveliing all over SE Asia without any jabs or malaria pills - so if you're staying in a plush hotel in Bkk or Phuket you should survive the trip OK with no need for any innoculations.
Do we really need to take them, my daughter cannot swallow pills and would need to take the liquid version.
I've booked an appointment with the nurse for next week anyway as we need to have boosters for some of the vaccinations
I am just back from Chiang Mai having stayed there for 8 weeks. We were advised by our doc to get the ones that Glynis mentioned above but not malaria. As Glynis also pointed out, you only need this if venturing into the jungle areas(our doc said same thing)
Nicky, I can't see any reason for needing malaria tablets in Chiang Mai as it is a large touristy place and not in a jungle!!!!!
Thanks, I didn't think we did need to take them everyone tells you something different
