Have been to the Potters Blazing Saddles Uncle Toms cabin...
Which are your favorites in Benal and why?

one of my favourites is definately 'marilyn monroes cocktail bar', i love the laid back atmosphere, the people you meet and chat to, the classic songs they play, oh and i love the fact it's 5 minutes from my apartment!

Ther have been many one-off posts about this bar on other forums  according to people who have been in the drinks are over priced and the service dire!

I visited the Bali Hotel three years ago and had a brilliant time. We used to visit a bar a little way down the hill going toward the sea. It was on the same side of the road as the Bali. They used to do a quiz followed by bingo most nights. Can anyone out there tell me the name of the bar as I have forgotten and want to get in touch.

Yep, definately sounds like Pickwicks. visited in July and had a great evening. Had to go earlyish to get a seat but then bingo, quiz, play your cards right etc between about 8 and 11.

Bar next door Cassies (?) decent as well, not much happening but very comfy interior and bottles of San Miquel for 1 euro.

We ate at a restaurant called Crystal which is situated in the parade of shops just past the hotel Las Arenas. Not sure whereabouts in Benal you are staying but the Las Arenas is on the main road as you come out of Benal heading towards Fuengirola. As you go past the Las Arenas there is a turning on the right with various restaurants down it; Crystal is at the very end on the lefthand side.

We are back in Benal in August and will no doubt return to this restaurant - very good choice on menu, reasonably priced and it was very busy in March which we thought spoke volumes for the quality of the food etc.

ken it was 4wks ago, when we were out there, lots of folks eating & drinking in there... we only stopped for a drink, but it was much busier than the other bars a bit further up the road.. :tup

Bunny Lane and K T Lee now have a restaurant further down Gomanal,His place has been taken over by another entertainer.

Terry Fox, now runs what was Bunny, think its called Terrys Palace (?) Bunny does a stint at Casa Chims (Harveys) not sure if he owns it..maybe a partner though..Bunny still does nights at Bonanza & Elephante bars..

When Ellie was at Bunnys would go because he was brilliant but never did like Bunny Lane and his way of running the place. Seen Terry Fox at a couple of places so will go back and see what it is like now.

Hi Ken

Sadly the Irish Times has been suffering of late, and is not open some days and closes early on others, you never can tell when it will be open or not. I did hear that they were stopping doing food (which wouldnt surprise me as the meal i had there was totally atrocious) but other than that i don't know what is happening there, something not quite right!!

If i hear of anything more, i will let you know.

Could certainly recommend Way Kiki snack bar, its on the main road heading out of Benalmadena towards Feuingerola just before the Aloha Playa apartments. Excellent bar snacks and reasonable prices for beer, wines and spirits. Very friendly spanish owners, have been using it for over 10 years

I agree with Mitchy that Crystal Restaurant provides really good food at reasonable prices. To find the street it's on, watch out for Coco's Bar and it's up that side street.

I have to admit that Mr Pickwicks is one of our favourite watering holes when we are in Benalmadena. For those that like a curry I can recomend the restaurant/take away just down from Pickwicks.

Good, simple homemade food you cant go past Poppies. Breakfasts are real belly busters and the steak was to die for.

Have been to Benalmadena about 10 times and am usually in Legends Bonanza Square. However someone mentioned Hazy Days and I cannot place exactly where it is. Can anyone help please?
