If it is any consolation, we're going in September as well.

It IS risky going in the hurricane season and you take a calculated chance that you might have adverse weather.

We're keeping our fingers crossed.

Well that's what the pictures and description says..... time will tell

There are quite a few mixed reviews elsewhere on the internet, but we'll go with an open mind and make the most of it.

And of course (before you start Pippy  :rofl), I will do a review as soon as I get back.

hi, we went to mexico a few years ago in september and the weather was fab we had a few showers at night and our last day it rained otherwise it was excellent but i suppose its luck of the draw at that time , iam sure you will have a great time anyway.

hi,8 of my family went to mexico last year but to riviera maya which is not that far from cancun and like you we were worried about the weather as we were going in october but like everyone else says you take a chance. it rained a couple of times whilst we were there but is was not for long and when it happened it was quite nice as the rest of the time it was really hot. anyway it was a lot better than barnsley. you will enjoy it i am sure, have a good un.

Cancun in September... HOT. Low 90's. It's not unusual at the end of a hot humid day in the Caribbean to get thunderstorms. They are usually brief- the sky gets black- it rains like cats and dogs and then it's all over.
2005 was a bad year for Hurricanes in the W Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico.
2006 - there were none.
The end of August into September is peak time, but the Hurricane season is from June to November. Millions of people visit Cancun without problem.

emdia43 - thanks for that, I'm just looking forward to a nice relaxing holiday, Its my 50th in September and our silver wedding in October, so this is a special holiday, we usually go to Icmeler in Turkey and I must admit that will take some beating, been there for the last 4 years and made some very good friends :D fingers crossed!

hi there Tarnlass, we are booked to stay at the Riu Caribe in September aswell. We arrive from Glasgow on the 6th until the 20th. I'm a bit like you with the hurricanes but it's a chance you have to take ;)
We went to the Dominican for our honeymoon in October 2004 and just missed all the hurricanes by about 1 week. While we were there though, the weather was perfect and it was a great holiday. Unfortunately, the area had taken a bit of a beating though! :?

We've booked for the 2nd September for 2 weeks, the hotel looks beautiful, I've even been on google earth and seen an ariel view of the hotel and surrounding area, looks great! they have the name of the hotel on the roof so you know which it is  fingers crossed for the weather hey, I'm not so bothered about when we get there ... more for when we're flying (I'm not a good flyer  but it doesn't stop me) more than likely bump into you there :)

Well, after reading your post, we downloaded google earth and had a look - It looks fabby. I can't wait!! ;) I've also been getting myself all hyper reading reviews and looking at holiday pics. He he - still another 6 months + to go though. LOL!

I'm the same as you with flying. Actually, I'm OK when I'm up in the air but it's taking off and landing thats the problem. We flew to Dominican for our honeymoon via Canada though and I must admit that the night flight on the way home was absolutely terrifiying. There was thunder and lightning from Dom Rep to Halifax and although it was probably hundreds of miles away from us - the full sky was lighting up with fork lightning. Very scary indeed!!

Anyway, looking forward to it and yes, we'll no doubt bump into you when we're there ;)

We went to Playacar staying in Iberostar Tucan in September 2004 and only had about 20 minutes of rain the whole time we were there.

It was so beautiful we returned in May 2006 & got married out there. Once again the only rain we had was for about 2 hours on the wedding day (It's supposed to be lucky apparently!!!).
