Abu Simnel

We are doing a Nile cruise with a week in Luxor after in a few weeks time. Should we use the tour operators trip to Abu simnel from aswan (does anyone know how much this will cost if we fly there), or is it possible to go from Luxor. Our tour operator is Cosmos.
As far as i'm aware, Jackie, Egyptair only fly to Abu Simbel from Aswan or Cairo. For this reason alone, its probably better to do the trip with your TO. Although it is quite expensive and I cant tell you the current price, it is the most wonderful experience and not to be missed!

We did Abu Simbel independently a number of years ago.
We arranged a mini-bus for 5 of us and set off at 04.00hrs to meet up with the convoy.
You get there early to beat the heat - and you can see mirages on the way back, it's so hot. You can usually get them to take you to see the High Dam as well but if you are doing the Cruise - this will already be included.
We paid LE120 for the minibus and driver but this was about 8yrs ago. Although the exchange rate is double what we were getting then.
