Good choice in my opinion Karen. I've stayed in the Marhaba Beach some time ago and it was fine. Tunisia is a great place for children as the locals love them and you will be very safe there. Most hotels have an entertainment (Animation) team who are wonderful with children. Taxis etc. are very cheap and there is a water park in Port El Kantaoui (no more than 5 dinars by taxi - about 2 pounds sterling) as well as a small fun fair. The beaches are wide and safe, with soft sand. and don't shelve steeply so you will be able to relax. There may be someone here who has been toi the Marhaba Beach more recently who will be able to give you more up-to-date information.

I notice you want to get out and about so Sousse is a good place to be based, as apart from the trips organised by the rep, yoiu also have the metro, trains and buses if you want to explore independently.

Hi Karen, I have booked my first visit to Tunisia at the same time as you, we have booked the Sheraton Resort in Hammamet, it looks great. I have 2 boys aged 14 and 9 and the facilities look really good.

Hi Eloisa,
Stayed at the Sheraton last August. It is a pleasant, quiet hotel on a lovely beach. Most of the clientele seemed to be mainly French or German couples though there were a few families there. The food was good, rooms simple but attractive with patios and we had no complaints about anything.

Karen, As said before on this site Tunisians are very good with children so couldn't envisage any problems taking your son - with a small child in tow you will get really attentive, friendly service.

Tunisia is a lovely country, friendly people and great weather! Beaches are very good and the hotels are a excellent standard (mainly 4* +)

You may hear bad comments... like 'loads of poverty and messy etc...' but this is simply untrue in the tourist parts, yes its poorer than the UK but the tourist parts are fine.

True that locals pressure you to go into shops but they are simply only earning a living and a straight NO normally does the trick or haggle and get a bargain if you like!! Look in the carpet factories, every Tunisian vistor has to do that!!!

Hope this puts peoples minds at rest
Any questions please PM me!
