Just wanted to check, once you are through check in are you allowed to buy water and alcohol from the shops in the airport to take on the plane with you or not?

Can you buy alcohol for the plane? I thought it was just soft drinks!
You can buy alcohol in Duty Free but you are not allowed to drink it on the plane.
unless you take a few empty 100ml bottles! 
what I meant was, we bought bottled water from Duty Free to drink on the plane.My 13yr old daughter had 3 cans of body spray and a roll on deodorant confiscated by security as we hadn't put them in a plastic bag
It never occured to me to them in a bag.
We then went into Boots in the departure lounge and bought some more for her
