Hi

I will be travelling to Luxor for a 5 days cruise on MS Magic through Hayes&Jarvis. I will be travelling by myself and have booked an all inclusive exursions and food trip.

The trip I booked was expensive due to single persons supplement and Im thinking I cant really afford to tip everyone wherever I go as Im on a low income and saved up as this was a treat.

My partner is not an excursion person and I love sightseeing. I am well travelled so not oblivious to tipping etc . I visited Sri Lanka with my partner and we got used to it as part of the holiday. However circumstances are different and I may feel more vulnerable.

Has anybody else travelled by themselves to Egypt and is it safe for a lone woman to go by herself? Im very safety conscious.

I look forward to receiving experiences from you and welcome them all! I will tip a little but I read somewhere that £30 is expected at the end of the trip to all staff.

Since Ive just booked the holiday am I better off waiting till I get to the airport in Luxor to get my visa or sending off for it now?

Im looking forward to it as Ive always wanted to go to Egypt as long as I can remember but its never been the right time!
