Hi Anne_Marie85
It depends on what you're looking for really. The really stylish Safari C.C.(opposite the Mare Nostrum) has some lovely clothes and shoe shops, some more designery than others..(always nice to window shop in the "top end" ones that I can't afford.. )...there's also a Zara etc. Some nice non tacky gift shops too, also loads of Perfumerias.
There are a multitude of Electrical shops at Americas Plaza, next to the Safari C.C. and also loads in the Parque Santiago area. Some nice jewellers there too and also some cheap souvenir shops. There's also Mango near to the Hotel Conquistador, which is in walking distance of the places I've mentioned.
You won't be too far from any of these places staying in LC.
Where are the non tacky gift shops. I am always after something a little bit different, but am at a loss as to where to find it
thanks
Can you tell me what tenerife is like for shopping & also where the best place to shop is?
Depends where you're staying... If you're in PDLA then I'd recommend a walk around the Safari shopping centre, just over the road from the Mare Nostrum - go at night and watch the dancing fountains There's plenty of lovely designer stores in that area of the resort - prices aren't shockingly cheap, but you're guaranteed to get something you won't see at home.
Your hotel reps will probably recommend their day trip to the island's capital, Santa Cruz in the north. I've never been, but apparently it's full of tax-free designer shops (so I've been told...)
Definitely browse the Safari C.C. (Ground floor) as there are at least a couple of lovely gift shops. You'll recognise them by the nice things that are displayed in their windows. I'm positive you'll find something different and quite tasteful there.
Enjoy your holiday when the time comes.
I have been to Tenerife several times and have been to Tiedi twice.
Once when the lift was working and once when it was closed due to wind.
I appreciate it is one of the most popular trips, but I did find the experience very over-rated.
My missus also had an asthma attack while on second trip, and I would advise any other sufferers take precautions.
One blast of sulphur and my missus collapsed in a heap.
If people do go I would strongly suggest they put their winter woolies on and check the lift is working.
Apologies for original flippant post

I'm staying near the aquapark could you please reccomend any shopping centre round there, only asking as i was planning to walk in to LC qiute a bit but have now broken my toe, am still planning on going to tenerife, but will be limited on what to do as i will be on crutches and alone for the first fe days, any info greatfully receieved
wLondon:
The San Eugenio centre (near Las Dalias hotel) has some good shops and is a nice area. If you're on the aquapark side of the motorway however, it's still a good 10 mins hike downhill which may not be good for your broken toe If you're really set on a good shopping trip I recommend you get a taxi from your hotel to the Safari shopping centre and Parque Santiago area, spend a good few hours browsing round there (believe me you can make a good few hours of it...) it's nice and flat in that area so you should be OK if you take it easy, and then get a taxi back
Wooltonian:
Apology accepted I firmly believe Tenerife is a place with something for everyone whatever their tastes. Sorry to hear about your wife's asthma attack - hopefully she soon recovered and enjoyed the rest of the holiday.

Have very often seen and spoken to people arriving in taxis from other areas, just so that they can pay the Safari centre and the area a visit.
In fact, couldn't resist my daily visit there in October, even though I wasn't staying in the Mare Nostrum for the first time in ages. Drove the hire car down there every day!
thank you all
i'm not into looking at volcanos but totaly agree the views on the way up are awesome and the roads are fantastic to drive up if you are motormad like me we done the trip 4-5 times last year and on the way up stopping at el rancho for a wild west show (very good) and also to ride the cammels the park about 1hr away from pdla not the dirty disgusting ill treated park 10mins away loro parque is a major must well for my family anyway also try the little monkey park 5 mins out of pdla about between 5 + 8 euros in a taxi then for tea tony romas in pdla this place is awesome the best ribbs and onion ring towers going to me and my family tenerife is the place for a holiday ever we love it
I would also thank wooltonian for the apology rendered and hope that the courteous acceptance of same will bode well for the future.
