provided you hold an EEC passport YES however if you are hiring a vehicle please ensure that you have the correct insurance cover most standard hire car insurance dose not cover trips to the north
Thanks for the prompt reply, I do have Insurance arranged with Petsas, Wilbury
1) INSURANCE
The Owners vehicles are covered against liabilities to third parties for death, injury or damage to property.
Insurance cover is provided subject to terms and conditions of the rental agreement, and only in the non-occupied areas.
and
3 The renter remains responsible for all damages occurring to the rented vehicle in the occupied areas irrespective of blame, despite arrangements under paragraphs 2 and 3 above.
The solution to insurance cover is to buy it at the crossing point from the "man in the shed". BUT bear in mind that this is third party only, and Petsas condition 3 above will still apply.

Pubdog, apologies, I should have said that Petsas have informed me that they can arrange the Insurance for me, through a Turkish Insurance company, any other information, re: state of roads etc. would be welcome, Thanks, Wilbury
You do have the problem that if the car was impounded, for any reason, then you would be responsible, and in theory could be charged with theft.

fwh: Ordinarily you would be spot on, but remember this is Cyprus and the green line is NOT a border.
