we stay in kemer and have one day out in the resort of antalya,it only takes about 30 minutes on the dolmus and looking on the map i think your slightly closer than us,their's plenty of shops bars restaurants etc, also i was told that their is a huge shopping centre called the mmm migros, that we have missed on our last two visits, wont miss it this time tho,we were told that it has mc donalds-burger king etc,so if you have kids like ours they will be happy,it also has the pictures, was also told that there is a museum and tram system nearby to the the migros, hope this helps a little, happy holidays, have fun,
theres is smaller migros in lara region, i dont think it will be expensive to get there by taxi, bu t as far as i remember not many shops over there...
I remember one thing! If you go shopping by taxi let them take you to Deepo. Its just near the airport- that means close to Lara beach. even close than migros and so on and Deepo is outlet! you can find there the same things as evrywhere but much cheaper.
Deepo Outlet Center ( by the airport )
Laura Shopping Center ( located on the Lara side of the city )
G-Mall
White World Center
Real Shopping Mall
Kipa ( which is owned by Tesco )
Any taxi can take you there... plus a lot of these malls have free shuttles so ask the hotel for info.
A great daily market is the Dogu Garaji located in the center of the city. Some of the best shopping may be found in the Kaleici district (also known as the old city ) near the city walls. Also Cumhuriyet, Gulluk, Ataturk and Isiklar are the main shopping avenues.
Thanks to everyone for the replies. The hotel were we are staying is lara beach hotel and i have just found out there is some shops about 1 km away dose any one know if there is a few shops or a lot of shops.
We went to lara last year and are going again this Sunday. There is quite a large shopping centre which was not fully completed last Easter but it had quite alot of clothes shops, jewellers etc and seemed abit more up market. and we found the prices to be abit expensive.I am not quite sure how near the hotel you are going to is from it. there is a smaller centre further along from it.There were a few shops being opened up across the road and it will be interesting to see how the development shaped up. Lara is a purpose built resort and other than some superb hotels along a strip of beach there is little else. We liked it and are already booked for next year as well. The hotels offer fantastic facilities so you are not bored.
I am sure the reps will offer trips out to markets for shopping and some hotels have buses to Antalya or catch the local bus.. We have been to the Antalya side of Turkey several times but have still to visit Antalya and may just do that this time. I am not one for shopping on holiday but it is good to haggle and get a bargin!
Thanks for the info violet,i do fancy going to the market i bet it is good haggling that will make shopping more intresting. I am not a big shopper but spending all hoiday glued to a sunbed it is nice to take a break and have a look round the shops.
