I believe that I am right in thinking that some carriers/tour operators will cancel your flight completely if you don't make the outbound flight.

Yep Pippa is right. be aware of not turning up for outbound leg. I am sure somewhere in the Holiday Truths flight forum there has been much discussion on one way travel on return tickets - now there is a job for the mods!! Can they find it :?:

Can I use just the return portion of my ticket?

EDIT: Sorry Jade, but that extract did appear to be copyright protected and so I have removed it for our protection.
Basically it confirms what has been said before in similar threads, that if you do not travel on the outbound sector of a ticket then the airline may cancel any subsequent flights sectors booked.

Often the reason for this is that if you book inbound only it makes it difficult to sell the outbound seats as there are no seats left for the inbound, hence the price is high.
