Assuming Canada is the same as the US, I don't know if it is, then you will be expected to tip a minimum of 15% for any service such as taxi drivers and in restaurants.
Tipping in Canada is much the same as in the USA. Tip 15% of the bill before the taxes. Don,t tip the tax. The easy way is to look at how much taxes are and tip that amount.
Sales tax in Las Vegas is 7.75% so we tend to look at the tax that's been added to a restaurant bill and double it for the tip.
Had a discussion about this with the barman at our hotel in Toronto. Apparently the taxation system is different in Canada for waiting staff. 15% is sufficient.
