Why not contact the Departmental Tourist Office for Provence? They'll have loads of ideas. In the meantime (depending on where you are) :

Abbaye de Senanque
Gordes
Cavaillon
Nyons - olive oil production
Baumes de Venise - sweet wines
Les Baux de Provence - historical ruins
Roussillon - ochre quarries
Oppède le vieux - old ruined deserted town
Isle sur la Sorge - beautiful village and excellent markets
Fontaine de Vaucluse - amazing sink hole and bottomless lake and Vallis Clausa paper mill and products
Gigondas - wonderful red wines
Mont Ventoux - great views and regular Tour de France route
Vaison La Romaine - old roman town with ruins
The Luberon - as in Peter Mayle's books .............

and that's just for starters!

But make sure that you bring a corkscrew and cups, a good sharp knife and make delicious picnics from local charcuterie, cheeses, melons, olives and bread ........... not forgetting to wash it down with the local wines (in moderation of course!!!).

Thanks, that's really helpful, sounds like i'm going to have fun and i especially like french cheese so think the picnic ideas a brilliant one. Will find out exactly where it is i'm staying and have a look at some of those places ;-) thanks
