Hi,
Have finally booked some flights for end of july, now looking at accomodation. I would have liked the Bonaire which I think would have suited our two boys (10 & 13) but it's not available.
I know the B Azul & Floriana are part of the same complex but is one a better choice than the other?
Any help much appreciated, all we want is good pools, plenty for the kids to do and nice apartments.
Cheers!
Click Here for review for both accommodations.
Thank you for the link, I had already read the reviews and the Floriana is a bit mixed, also some reviews are quite old. There is only one review for the B Azul, so hoping for someone who has been recently to tell me what they thought of both places,
The only down side of the Bahia Azul is they have no lift. If you are fit this poses no problems. I have not stayed at either but am staying in the Protur hotel Bonamar in 3 weeks time. I am sure both complexes will be good as protur have a good reputation. CBG
We are booked to go to the Bahia Azul in the summer holidays too.
Have a look here:-

There are a lot of reviews of both places. We have chosen the Bahia Azul because it is smaller but we are still able to use the facilities of the Floriana Resort if we wish to. Our children are a bit older. I think that you may well have to cross a road to get to the Floriana from the Bahia Azul.
I gather that the Bahia Azul is all English but the Floriana may well be mostly German. I have read too that a lot of things, like entertainment, tv, etc may well be mostly in German. Have a look through the reviews and I am sure you will gain all the information to help you make an informed choice.
Have you been also on the Portur Hotels website?

Cheers!
I was thinking the same thing that the BA would be nice and quite with the facilities of the Floriana for the boys close at hand, but now you have said about there being a road to cross that might be a problem, I wouldn't really be happy for the boys to cross a road on their own.
I am also worried about the high ratio of German guest at the Floriana, nothing against them at all but if everything is geared towards them it might not be so good for us i.e food, entertainment, socialising etc. We have been away before when you have to listen to annoucements and entertainment in about three different languages and it's not fun.
Dont get me wrong I am not the sort that goes abroad and then expects a full english fry up every day, it's nice to try the local cuisine but I do like the children to be happy too.
I find the reviews of the Floriana really mixed, although the problem with too many All inclusive German guest keeps coming up.
I didn't think it would be so hard, I have really done my homework, read a lot of reviews and priced up different places but there isn't much that fits the bill in Cala Bona or Cala Millor.
Have you considered Sa Coma? It is the next resort from Cala Millor, I have been to Sa Coma a few times very family orientated and only a short bus or taxi to Cala Bona if you wanted. S'Illot might be worth having a look, again a small resort ideal for young ones and a stones throw from Sa Coma. CBG
It's just finding the right accomodation, I know a lot of people think it's just a place to rest your head but my kids don't like being dragged around too much, so we need enough facilities to keep them happy and I think it's so much nicer if your apartment is comfortable and not too cramped.
I guess I will sort something out soon, my hubby keeps saying how much he is really looking forward to our holiday...I have to keep reminding him we only have 15 nights at Palma airport at the moment!
we stayed at the Floriana a while ago, but it was good sized accomodation, spotlessly clean and in a great location ~ a residential area rather than in the main drag but still only a five minute walk away.
We were on the top floor but even with two young children this wasn't a problem as the lifts were speedy and central.
The kids club by Thomson was OK, but the bar on site was always
reasonably priced and stayed open till fairly late so we generally wandered back there after a night in the centre.
Breakfast was also cheaper at the pool snack bar /cafe than in the centre of town.
Have fun
Shelley
I have watched the thomson video of both places and both look nice, I think sometimes they can be a bit deceiving. What are the swimming pools like?
Are you going to Cala Bona again?
Thanks for your help,
