My nextdoor neighbour has booked a fortnight at the Holiday Village
in Sarigerme in September.
She's had a letter about building work on the site or nearby to the site.
She's quite upset and worried that this will spoil her holiday and doesn't know whether to go for a change of accomodation or what have you.
Does anybody, please, know what work is going on and how it will affect guests at the Holiday Village.
If it was me I would still go as I spend very little time in the accommodation when on holiday. But since she's paid to go all-in (they are of the mind that you can't go off complex abroad with kids as its dangerous...OK, if you say so) they ought to be able to enjoy their encarceration fully, hence her worries about the effects of any building work.
TIA Pearl x
Yor neighbour saying about staying in the hotel complex will probably be true only because the hotel is in the middle of nowhere... apart form the small village of Sarigerme about 20 mins walk away.
Hope this helps.
Sam
Thanks Samantha. Unfortunately, its got nothing to do with the complex being in the middle of nowhere, it really is because they don't want to expose the kids to 'nasty foreign dangers'.
Most of the nasty dangers will be British.
We went last summer, lovely place, lovely food, excellent staff - just lots of horrible people getting very drunk and neglecting kids.
We spent 2nd week out and about - loved it - locals fab.
We are going nearby again this year but self catering
We live just a stonesthrow from Portchester Castle and they've never even taken them there. They wouldn't be interested, apparently.
Try it, I keep telling them but they are adament that all little girls want to do is swim and be entertained by somebody other then them.
"Its what we pay for, innit!"
My kids are a bit older now, 18 and 13, but all their lives we explored the places we've been too and they've got right into it.
When the boy, Joe, walked through the gates of Ephesus he looked up, pointed at the columns and identified them, Ionic, Doric, Corinthian (alright he muddled the last two, but that's not the point). It was brilliant, he had taken what he had learned in his history lessons at school and put it into a real life context. He tried out the Roman loos, stood in the centre amphitheatre and tested out the acoustics! That's playing too.
We lost him outside Barcelona Cathedral....on Corpus Christi amongst throngs of pilgrims and TV crews. We found him.....still inside, hands behind his back wandering around, looking up and taking it all in....oblivious to our panic outside.
I know its a different area, but I told my neighbours about Gumusluk...how you can paddle over the ruins to Rabbit Island, dip in the rock pools and while away an afternoon just being kids there.
No, not safe. And besides our girls wouldn't like it.
Hah! These are the two little girls I often see in the garden getting up close and personal with beetles and insects. How they'd love the rock pools and the crabs.
Sorry, getting carried away with the moans here.
Each to their own, I guess. The world would be a very stale place if we were all the same.
But why, oh why, take yourselves off to somewhere as wonderful and beautiful as Turkey just to pretend anything outside the complex walls doesn't exist.
Roll on the end of May.....we've got a lot to pack into one short week!
It is right that there is a building work which belongs to the Pine Bay Golf Resort Hotel in Sarigerme near Pegasos Palace but in Turkey in tourist season there is no building allowance. So at the 1st of May the building will have to stop.
It was the same as well last year but it seems that Most of the people who stayed at Pegasos Palace last year had a good holiday. Unfortunately when Pegasos Palace was opened first 2 years ago because of the construction site Pegasos had itself Most of the people who came first complained about it. They were right as there was a construction site inside the hotel. But Now The hotel is really in a very good condition and there is no need to worry. The construction site is outside the hotel and they stop soon also Golf Company and Pegasos are now doing gardening works between the 2 hotels.
For all the people coming to Pegasos Palace and worried about the building works, I will get photos and send them here.
Will be only pleased to answer your questions which you may have
I am sure everyone coming to Pegasos will have a great time
Regards
Mustafa

*Edit please don't use phone text on the forums thanks Briar
we too have had a letter informing us of the building work, but it also stated it would be finished by May 1st and only work inside would still carry on with hand tools, it also said that last year the work was being done and the resort still got nearly 90% in reviews. we were offered an exchange holiday and did look at a few but have decided to stay where we are and are soo looking forward to it, as are our boys 13 and 10.
we were told the building work is nearest to block 4 but only the one side will over look it, but were assured when room allocation started (2 weeks before arrival)we would be allocated a room as far away from the work as possible.not sure how they will manage that but hey ho!
the view i personally have is that you only sleep, shower and change in your room, and if you are anything like us we like to go for a bit of a siesta in the afternoons sometimes, and going by other very hot countries we have been to work tends to stop during the very hot afternoon hrs and carries on early evening so we are hoping this will be the case here too. if not i am sure we will be able to find a shadier spot to do it instead. the new building overlooks the flume pool in the pegasos apparently, and knowing children there will be plenty of daytime noise which will drown out any building works. i have read some varied reviews on this place and am still going anyway, as far as dodgy tummies are concerned if you take the proper precautions regarding ice, non-bottled water and get in the shade a bit you should be fine, some people sitting out all day in the very hot sun must realise that sun stroke can make you very ill and upset stomachs too which may explain a lot, but i know not all, of the complaints i have read so far. and as far as i can tell the staff work tirelessly to try and keep the resort spotless and no doubt pick up after the minority of slobby brits who probably make the Turkish people think we are all part of the 'Rab C Nesbitt' clan.
