A new thread, as we have all been hogging another one talking about it!!
I dug out the interbrava stuff i got sent with my tickets:
What they have is a 4 channel system:
- Ch1 is radio
- Ch2 is single CD/cassette tape
- Ch3 is 10 CD's in rotation
- Ch4 is DVD.
No, im not quite sure just how that all pans out, or to be honest of how it works, but maybe people who have seen these systems on the interbrava coach, or on others, can let us know!!
Another good thing is that Interbrava also send you out a copy of the hostess menu on board ... good to see in advance! (Mandy, if you are on my bus .... GET SOME CIDER!)
basically, they put a dvd on which you can listen to only through the headsets so there are no issues of the sound in the coach being too loud or too quiet -so it cuts out a lot of moaning.
they have different types of music on other channels, and a comedy channel -not recommended during the night
i personally liked this idea as i thought it helped pass the journey much better than on other coaches, and also i did not need to listen to the dvd if i didn't want to. we did get casino royale on my trip at christmas so that was good.
downside, i imagine, is that if you are travelling as a couple the other half may sulk if you spend 24 hours with headphones on - i know my better half would have.
Due to the nature of the journey it is very important to have regular films I particularly like the midnight movie it deflects the thoughts of the long night journey and whether you will sleep or not. The quality of the entertainment depends on the driver and the hostess, they must remember that we are paying customers that would like a good start to our holiday. We like quiz's and raffels, I have even heard of some coaches having karaoke sesions. As a Ferris traveller it still gripes me that they do not supply alcohol, we are on holiday for goodness sake, I will not rant on about this as I have covered it on a previous thread.
Do Ferris allow any alcohol consumption? I can remember going on coach journeys years ago where a lot of companies (that have now gone to the big coachyard in the sky) didn't allow alcohol
I think there's a fine line here ... i like a drink, and have a wee drink to get down to sleep, but some people will obviously take it to excess, so i think the happy medium is to allow it, but to also make people perfectly aware that if they abuse it and get OTT, then the bus WILL pull over at the local french police station en-route and throw them off! Same goes for those who ignore the 'no-smoking in the chemical toilet rule'
The last time I travelled to the Costa Brava by coach was summer 2005. Sunways didn't allow alcohol but we were discreet, my hubby had a small bottle of whisky in his pocket, and they seemed to turn a blind eye. We are travelling again this summer and I don't know if anything has changed. I love the idea of a race night! Now that really would help to while away the long evening. I have always found that the hostess chooses the videos, usually without any consultation from the passengers. Oh, apart from one time when there were some 'regulars' on the back seat who got to pick every single film!
Ye know, i have to admit my ignorance and say that i don't even know what a race night is!! ... but i'll take your word for it that it will be fun Things like raffles and Bingo pass the evening too, and the more things they have, the better the journey .... at least with the new entertainment systems they should have a DVD on all the time, you just choose whether or not you want to listen to it. The Film choice could be a hit and miss at times, and it could even be spoiled or improved depending on your location on the bus (poor view of the telly, lousy speakers above you, etc!!)
Has anyone on here travelled with Interbrava last year who could give me more info on the entertainment system they have now?
CiderMonster - they had the Top 20 DVDs, enough to see you through the whole journey. A state of the art music system with different channels to tune in to through personal headphones. The hostess changed into a very fetching outfit at midnight and walked up and down the aisle doing lap dances for the men, one of the drivers changed into a smart dinner suit then did the full monty for the ladies ... then I woke up!!!!!
So ... just like last year then!
I have booked with ferris do they have on board entertainment?
Cant speak for this year , but in other years Ferris have always shown dvd's , played bingo, for the adults and the children , they have a raffle
