Hotel star ratings are a strange thing anyway. I have known them vary from TO to TO.
I would assume you did not book just on the star rating. I have stayed in 2 star that were better than 4 stars

Its quite possible that the only difference between a 3* and a 4*, is that the 4*s may have a fully equipped gym, or more than 1 pool,( or something down that line!), a facility that we may consider minor, all counts when been graded for star rating.
If the reviews are good, I would't even consider cancelling (but this is just a personal view), but I can understand your concern, and as fwh suggests, why not post the name of the hotel- I'm sure other members will give their honest opinion, if they have stayed at that particular hotel.
What ever you decide to do, have a fab time.
Regards, BBB
It good be that the 4 star rating that you saw online was the tour operators own and not the countries grading.
I would echo the previous comments about searching out any reviews on this and other sites before you consider cancelling - you might just regret it if you do!!

Hi neavsie, we had the same thing happen to us, on line stated a 4* but our brochure said a 3*. I totally agree with the comments already posted. We did a bit of research, reading customer reviews, which are always the best way of getting to the nitty gritty. Please dont rush into cancelling. We have just returned from staying in a 3* hotel and it was every bit as good as a 5*we stayed in last year, in fact better in some respects. Also what looks and sounds great in the brochures doesnt always tell the real story. Chat to people who have already been. Good luck. Lisa.
As has been mentioned the star rating does not reflect on the cleanliness nor quality of food, they are there for 'services' ie gyms, pools etc.
As has been suggested let us know the name of the accommodation and you may find the reviews are good.
Hi, thanks for all the replies, I have looked up the hotel and it seems OK, but I was just curious more for the principle as Inghams have been so rude asking me "what my problem is". Its the fact that you advertise one thing in one medium ie internet, and advertise another in the brochure. Thats my problem with them. Quite frankly if they had just said thanks very much for pointing it out no problem but it is their attitude that has spoilt it. We then considered luxury log cabins and hubbie wanted to change the booking to them but when I phoned up to change the booking the website clearly states air passenger duty and fuel surcharges included, but Inghams wanted to charge me the price on the website but ADD air passenger duty and fuel surcharges. Therefore the price was about £150 more than on the website. I tried to explain that the web page clearly showed that the price included these but was made to feel like an out and out liar and cheat. I have kept a screen dump of the page just to prove I was not wrong.
Also if this is in Austria, Switzerland their standards are very high. The best hotels we have stayed in have been a 3 star in Kitzbuhel, a 3 star in Seefeld and a 3 star in Grindelweld.
I am sure everything will be fine and Inghams will help you sort this out.
Hi it is the Hotel Tunturi, it seems OK and we were happy when orginally booking. I phoned up Inghams at the beginning to query whether it was 3 star or 4 star and had no intention of changing. Other half did want to change in the end, it was just Inghams attitude especially since we were willing to spend £400 more. We did not want anything from Inghams just the truth, and to up the price from the internet is disgraceful. Let me say we chose Inghams because we travelled with them last year, but I do not deserve to be treated so badly.
