Only Easyjet (from Stansted) fly to Ljubljana. Ryanair (also from Stansted) are starting flights to Maribor, which is about 60 miles from Ljubljana, in June.
One alternative is to use the Slovenian airline Adria. They fly from Gatwick almost every day and (I think) from Birmingham and Manchester during the summer months. If you book early you might get a cheap flight with them.
Or you could fly Ryanair to nearby Trieste in Italy and then transfer to Ljubljana.
thank you so much trisantona. easyjet from stansted is perfect for us . its our nearest airport . I had looked at ryanair to maribor but didnt know how far that would be . will check out easyjet now . thank you

so many lovely things to see aswell as ljubljana which i havent been too either
EasyJet's flight times are very convenient. You fly out at 1330 and land back in Stansted about 1830. For airport transfers we used a company called Airport Transfer Services . There is a link for them on the Easyjet website. They took us by shared coach to central Ljubljana and then transfered us to our apartment by taxi. The same arrangement was used on the return journey.
can you give me an approx idea to prices in slovenia, average meal, beer, pop, etc, as not sure how much to take for 6 nights, we want to do a bit of sight seeing, caves, castle, too, what is the best currency to take thanks
I hope that is helpful.
This website :- http://www.Ljubljana.si/en/tourism/ gives lots of information about Ljubljana.
thank you thats very useful once i work out how much a euro is worth ,got a good idea though, lol
€1 = 67p. So, as a rough estimate, €8 = £5, ie about two thirds.
Been having a good look tonight . looks fab . Ljubtjana Is now top of my list for our spring break
For next spring we are thinking about Bratislava. It looks similar to Ljubljana. Also you have the opportunity to visit Vienna and a couple of attractive towns in Hungary. Both are just a few miles away from the city.
we have just come back from our trip to slovenia, we had a great time lovely country, but it was a lot more expensive than we expected and found prices similar to uk in restaurants and some of the boat trips, horse and carriages etc very expensive, we thought the people werent that friendly either and on a few occasions they got impatient with us whilst trying to find the right change to give them for ice creams instead of a big note, apart from this with thought bled was gorgeous, very impressed with the prostojana caves, we also liked izola area , although didnt like koper too industrial, but piran, izola and protoroz were lovely. lubljana was lovely too , we enjoyed our boat trip and train up to the castle, but its not as nice as some of the other cities we have visited, i preferred prague, warsaw and marrakech but its certainly nice
I am sorry you were a bit disappointed with the trip. When we were there a few weeks ago we didn't find it that expensive. Also the people were friendly and didn't seem impatient with us.
we had a good time, but found it dearer than we expected, 10-13 euro for a main course meal was about uk prices i just thought it would be really cheap and it wasnt, beer was about 3 euros, fanta 1.5 euros so very similar to uk prices. im used to going to turkey were its a fair bit cheaper and the people are exceptionally friendly which we sadly didnt find in slovenia, but i did think it was a beautiful country
We did a 2 Centre, the first week in Rovinj in Croatia the second in Kranjska Gora. We didn't enjoy Croatia as much as Slovenia and wished we had done two weeks in Slovenia instead.
We will definately return to Slovenia but will do DIY rather than package as there are some fabulous apartments you can stay and eating out is so cheap.
I have finally booked ourselves a weekend in Ljubljana . Got excellent price return flights from stansted with Easyjet for £127 for the 2 of us fri 5th june - mon 8th .
lyn you must try and go to bled and the caves if you get the chance, both fab places, i think i put photos in the gallery of ljubljana, bled etc, let me know if you need any help
Hi Karen . We will only get 2 full days + 2 half days on the day we get there and the day we go home . Yes we will definately go to bled for 1 full day and spend 1 full day mouching around town but due to flight times we only have half a day on the third day so not sure if we would be able to fit the caves in .
I should have taken it as a sign last year that this trip just wasnt meant to be for us but I didnt listen . Boy oh boy did we have a miserable weekend in the rain . And I mean rain . it just poured and poured . no wonder slovenia is such a green and beautiful country.
Unfortunately we just couldnt get at the stunning surroundings. We had intended to do the first day wondering around Ljubjana and then get the bus into Bled 2nd day and I had visions of us riding bkes around the lovely park on our last morning .
Instead we got soaked through , I had horrendous blisters and we both had tempers to match . It's a pretty place, not as old and historic as I had imagined and very young and hip. Lots and lots of bars . They are trying to blend old with new contempory which I thought was a shame . Unfortunately there just wasnt enough there for us with 3 days to kill in the rain . Had we been able to get out to bled it most probably would of been a different story .
We enjoyed some lovely meals and the people were very friendly but sadly this was one weekend we would both like to forget fast.
lyn
Oh Lyn, what a shame. So dissapointing for you. I feel for you because a similar thing happened to us a couple of years ago. Hubbie had been to Lake Garda a couple of times on business and came back raving about how beautiful it was and how much he thought I would like it. So, off we go, long weekend away, first break ever without our girls, the heavens opened from the time we got there til the time we left. I couldn't even see the lake for rain and mist! Was like a drowned rat for the whole time. It was so disappointing and even though he keeps saying we need to go again during the summer I really don't feel any inclination. Never mind won't be long before you are sampling the delights of Cuba, take care, Sharon.
Ah thanks Sharon . I've got over it now but what a waste of money . I shall just have to book something else now to make up for it .
