Take some Egyptian pounds, you can order them from your bank. Also take some pound coins, they love them as tips, you'll get great service if you tip in sterling.

Euros are also commonly accepted.

You can just get Egyptian currency from Thomas Cook shops - no need to order.

Best to tip with low denomination Egyptian notes - difficult for locals to exchange foreign coins if given them as tips.

Best to take GB£ or US$ and change over there - you usually get a better rate.
