LYNN M...may seem a little greedy but i'm back in September aswell on the 10th (all in all 3 times this year) but TURKEY as many on here know is so addictive...Dalyan is a special place to me and i'm sure that you will find the same,it's such an intimate place that people fall in love with it...it's such a small village that once you have been you seem part of the community and are made so welcome...never had a bad meal in any of the restaurants but haven't tried them all as there are so many to choose from i'm sure you are going to love it...if you want any info there is a good guide to it on http://www.dalyan.co.uk but if you wish more info on my recommendations send me a p.m. on this site and i will be happy to reply to you.. Have you tried white water rafting? If so, recommended?

I nearly did it year before last but I was given mixed reports about it so I went paragliding instead (I was staying near Olu Deniz then). I really fancy giving it a go. People I've spoken to who have done it have had some injuries though and the safety issue is a bit of a worry for me (they told me this after I'd decided not to go as they didn't know whether this was just them).

Thanks for the laugh the thought of me white water rafting and paraglyding gave me a chuckle I'm scared of heights might have enough courage to try rafting though.

We have taken the plunge and booked for Dalyan 27th June for two weeks, staying at the Mehtap, looks loverly.Any one stayed there.?

I have wanted to go for years but husband didnt fancy it, we enjoy where ever we go, dont think you can go wrong any where in Turkey.

We will be staying in Turunc for the first two weeks another first, Hotel the 1st week and apartment the 2nd, so stepped out of the Icmeler comfort zone this year.

If you're coming over in September I can recommend a walk along the beach, doing it July and August could for many be too hot and hard work, in September it will be pleasent. To get an idea of the sights look at http://www.dalyanholiday.co.uk/show_info.php?Id=42

If you like paraglyding then have a look at the alternative of microlight flights at http://www.dalyan.com

I've just bought cheapish flights from Edinburgh to Dalaman for a week in October this year. Been to Dalyan once before, enjoyed it (apart from the mozzies) thinking about there again. Anyone any experience of the Oasis Apartments, or any other recomendations, want a quiet-ish place but not to far from the the centre.

Quiet places not too far from the centre.

http://www.erciyeshotel.com - British run, with a nice pool and bar, about 5 minutes walk
http://www.eserapartdalyan.com - Small family run apart hotel with pool, about 10 minutes walk
http://www.hotelindalyan.com - Small family run pansyion, no pool but right slap in the centre, actually within the market square
http://www.tamarisktourism.com/portakal.php - Nice place on the canal edge, a bit further to walk but worth it

I'm visiting Dalyan with a friend in late September and really looking foward to it - this will be my first visit to Turkey although my friend has been to Dalyan before with her family and loved it.

I've had a look at your website, Dalyanresident, and it's really helpful - I've added it to my favourites.

As 2 females in our mid-40s are we likely to come across any problems? We've chosen Dalyan because it seems like a fairly quiet, laid back place - we're not into clubbing it, just good food and good atmosphere plus beautiful scenery and Dalyan seems to fit the bill.

Any tips or advice would be welcome :)

Thanks, glad you like the web site. Over the summer months I am planning to expand it with a lot more information.

You will find Dalyan a perfect fit for you, there are a few clubs for those that want it but mostly it is nice bars and restaurants and more low-key.

I don't think you'll have any problems, Dalyan does have its fair share of wannabe cassanovas but they are respectful and will show interest if interest is sought.

Best tip is to just relax and enjoy the atmosphere and scenery. Boat trips are wonderful, the trip to the beach or onto the lake or over to Ekincik Bay.
At least once for lunch get away from the main street and go to one of the local Pide, Kofte, Kabab shops as you'll get excellent food at excellent prices - there are some good ones around the market or behind the main road.

Thanks very much for your reply :) Hopefully we'll be a bit old for the wannabes  A couple of boat trips are definitely in the (vague) plans we have already and we'll look out for the food places you suggest!

Hi Dalyan resident, what day is the market held in Dalyan and where is it, thanks, going in June

Hi the market is on Saturday and is currently held in the centre near Migros, PTT (Post Office), Bank - hey actually you won't miss it as it brings the town alive.

Hi

Are the mossies really bad in Dalyan.

When we tell folk we are going there, the first thing they say is oh mossquitos very bad.

Hubby got very badly bitten once, and has started to worry about them already.

I know bites are part of the holiday but I dont want him worrying unduly.

We do get mossies here but its not half as bad as some make out. As long as you are sensible and use Sin Kov or similar spray you will be fine. Try wearing long trousers in the evenings, spray all exposed areas and keep topping up.

Most hotels have nets in the windows so you can sleep with the windows open, however check the net is complete and ask for a new one if they have holes in. You can also get plug in repelents to use in the room, these are very effective.

I've been to a number of resorts in Turkey and elsewhere and I can't say Dalyan is any worse than elsewhere.

Thanks Dalyan Resident.

I'm just back from Icmeler and have bites.

I'm really looking forward to my stay in Dalyan.

We are staying at the Metin Hotel do you know it

Yes I know the Metin hotel, its a nice hotel and the owners are nice as well. Its well located being just off the main road. Haven't ever stayed there but we had a Teachers day celebration there and they put on a really good night.
