hi guys
heading to Alvor for the 1st time in 3 weeks. Staying in the Alvorferias apartments
just looking for some last minute info, i have already checked through reviews and the like, but wondering if anyone on here has stayed in them?
also, any really good restaurants in Alvor itself?
any markets in the area, and if not, where is the nearest big town that would have shopping and stuff?
we are a young enough couple (25+22) and wouldnt be too big into busy nightlife, as i understand Alvor is quite quiet, but if we wanted some busier nightlife, where would we go to?
thanks for any help
not stayed in the same apts as you so can't comment but have stayed in Alvor a few times.
There are loads of restaurants, covering all price ranges/styles, depends on what you want really
Our favourite is Vagabonds on hill down to fishermans hut (this is the main hill down to the seafront and has quite a few restaurants on it)
Alvor is quietish at night it - there are no clubs and the bars tend to quieten off after about 1am - Praia Du Rocha is your best bet if you want something more than this - this is about 10mins away in a taxi.
There is a small market in the centre of Alvor most days I think, and there is a much bigger one on the outskirts of the town once a month
Nearest major shopping centre is Portimao which is a 10min drive away
Cheers
We went beginning of May, and was lucky enough not to have a long transfer from airport (apprx 45mins).
When we arrived at the apts we were met by our thompson rep (claire) she was FAB ask her anything, she has lived in the ALGARVE for 15 yrs, hope she is still their.
The apts are spacious we stayed in a 1 bdrm with a sml child and had plenty of room, the balcony wasn't very big. The apts are on 2 sides over the road from each other, with a connecting bridge, both sides having lovely pools, we was on the reception side, which also has a supermarket built into it, which sells FAB bread.
reception staff lovely, very helpful. The walk into town is about 15mins, once in town the restaurants are lovely, too many nice ones to mention.
at the bottom of road from apts is a chinese, which is a must.
Sorry if waffled on, too many memmories coming back to me.
We go again to Alvor soon, but stopping at the Dunas Du alvor, which are situated a little closer to town.
I would rec these apts, no prob. HAVE A FAB TIME.
thats great, thats people
I stayed here a few years ago and thought it was great, the apartments were clean and tidy and the staff were all very friendly. Alvor itself is quite quiet, but its got some nice restarants which are about a 10 minute walk from the apartments.
If anyone has stayed here in the last 2 years please add your review by
I was in Alvor 2 years ago and I can recommend a bar called the Cabana. It's by the beach. It has an outside area.
The Casa del Rio restaurant in Alvor, on top of the cliff overlooking the bay, is excellent.
Yep, Casa de Rio is a fantastic restaurant. Beautiful view across to Lagos I believe and gorgeous food. We've been visiting this restaurant for our last 3 visits now and not been disappointed yet. Another of our favourites is Lusitania but it does get pretty busy.
