We visited either Kekova or Kale on a gulet trip two years ago. It was a fabulous place but I am confused as to where we actually visited. When we arrived we were greeted by villagers selling crafts, there a few bars/restaurants and up at the top of the hill were castle ruins with tiny a ampitheatre. Descriptions of both Kekova and Kale sound just like the place we visited. Even on google earth the views and photos there seem confused.
Anyone know these places?
Wendy
From the description you give then I think you will find we are talking about Kekova. Opposite Kekova is an island with a sunken city. We went around the bay passing the castle and there were Turkish Flags painted on the tombs. Our excursion didn't take us up to the castle, instead, after having had lunch at one of the restaurants, we were taken to Myra. We have got some photos taken from the sea. IF, I can manage it, I will try and put them on here. Will pm you when successful.
The bay itself is Kerkova and the village for visited was Kale. The island sheltering the bay is Kerkova Island with the sunken town.
