I have stayed in the Rui Palace, which is just down the road from the Rui Yucatan. The beach is superb on that stretch, we went to Cancun for the day and we were so glad we didnt stay there. We did go into the Rui Yucatan and it was fine. I dont know whether the other one you mention was built when we were there.

The beach at the Yucatan is beautiful, and the hotel is fab. We've stayed at the Tequila and had the use of the Yucatan and Playacar. There's some good entertainment for the kids. I don't know the other hotel, but I'd think that there would be more for your daughter to do when you can use the facilities of the 3 hotels. Don't be put off by the grandness, the people are great and you can dress up or down as you please!

Well.... I have an early bird dad who gets up at stupid oclock so he was up at 7ish at the pool, we were a family of 4 and we never had a prob getting any, the row that over look the beach are the best, shade in morning and sun about 2pm-ish..

There are ten sunbeds in the pool too, they are heaven!!

Beach, no problem at all getting any beds there.

A few days we went over to gthe Tequila and used there pool... very nice!!!

We've been to the Tucan and it was wonderful. My girls were just 7 and 9 then and they loved it- infact the other day my now 8 year old said she wanted to go there for her honeymoon!! The kids club was great, they would take them literally for the whole day and did all sorts with them. The girls did productions of Cats and Grease- they loved dressing up as the pink ladies!

Lots of animals roaming around the grounds too, which doesn't fail to enchant the kids.

To be honest I think 7 is a great age for the Tucan- they are still young enough to want the kids club etc which means you get a break as well. My eldest will be 12 next year and we would go back there in a heartbeat, but at that age I think we would struggle to amuse her all day if we weren't out and about. Too old for kids clubs but too young for the more teen orientated stuff.

It was our best ever holiday. Wherever you go though, do the excursions. Over a year on and the girls still talk about the hotel and everything we did. It made a really big impression on them. It is such a waste not to venture outside of the hotel.
