Right. After firing off about 6 million e mails and receiving some replies it is looking very much as though staying in a hotel/guesthouse as a single person is a costly do. Most hotels and guesthouses are quoting double room prices and have no single rooms. As a result it's actually working out much much cheaper to book accommodation only with a UK tour op than booking direct with the hotel in Goa.
I think I fancy Candolim again. I've been quoted some pretty good prices for what look like decent hotels. Thing is I quite fancied staying in the area around the Magnum but it's expensive so.....opinions please. I have varying prices at either end of Candolim i.e. Osborn resort and others near it £150 - £200 for 2 weeks or at Sinquerim end of the beach Don Hill and Lui beach etc for half that. I can't decide which part would be better because I've never stayed at Sinquerim end and am worried it might be too quiet or too far from everything. Hubbie says to wait til we go in December and look then for Feb. Problem with that is I'm quite particular about what I'm after and quite a few of those e mailed are already fully booked.
I' driving myself nuts with this so could use some help.
Everybody will have different ideas about which end is the best, but for me it is the Calangute end as I like to go into Calangute frequently and also Baga so I think nearer to the busy areas.
It's a lot quieter but not too quiet. There's always something going on but it's not as hectic as Calangute and Baga. We walk from central Candolim to Sinquerim and it's no big deal - quite pleasant in fact.
You're never really a long way from anywhere along the coast, and taxis (despite everything!) aren't too dear so I'd go for it. £100 saved on hotels pays for a lot of taxis, and the hotels you mention are good.
Your call!!
The beach down at the Sinquerim is almost non existant with very steep slopes to manage.
If you want to enjoy Candolim DO NOT stay at the Don Hill
dont know if this any use to you, i got quoted very good prices from this guest house.
