Hi Charliegirl, I personally don't do fiction, however I can highly reccomend a fabulous book about WW2 in Malta, it's called Fortess Malta an Island Under Siege 1940-1943 by James Holland, it's a great read and really makes you look at Malta in a very different light, whats more if you read that whilst in Malta you could go and visit a number of the places mentioned in the book, knowing what had happened or been there before.

Hello charliegirl007, I must agree with Sliema2 on that book I to have read it as well, some of the other books I have read also are.
The Great Siege Malta 1565 by Ernle Bradford.
The Knights of Malta by Joseph Attard.
The Monks of War by Desmond Seward.
The Air Battle for Malta by James Douglas-Hamilton.
Malta a guide to the fortifications by Quentin Hughes.

These may be more for men as they are more about war but they do give a great insite to Malta.

Hi

The Jukebox Queen of Malta by Nicholas Rinaldi - a US airman is stranded in Malta in 1942 - I read it quite a few years ago now, and recall it being a bit like Captain Correlli's Manolin.

I'm off to Malta on saturday, and will be taking The Count of Monte Cristo - which i've been meaning to read for ages and I'll probably pick up a blockbuster at the airport for some light relief as well.

Thanks for all the info, the factual war ones are a bit heavy for holiday reading but I think I will pick a couple of the suggested bookes up in Malta.
