I would say half a day & lunch there.
There are a few restaurants there to choose from.
Go in the morning, its typical Greek style, STEEP!!!! So don't leave it till the afternoon or it will be hot to wander/climb around.
Mind you, you don't have to climb, you can look & take photos from the road that runs through the middle of it.

We hired a jeep & drove there, but I think Dolumus's go there. Quite pretty driver too.

You can take a dolmus straight to Kaya from Fethiye.
I would think it best to go in the morning before the sun gets too hot but if you are taking small kids, the paths up to the ghost town are very steep and uneven.
I can recommend the istanbul restaurant run by a chap called Engin he will make you most welcome. if you like Turkish pancakes you must try them. They also have a swimming pool so you can make a day of it.

Hi
The Dolmus does go there - you have to change in Hisonaru
I have been a few times in the early evening - as kim says it gets very hot and the climb is very steep with no shade - you will need water!
Our favorite places are Muzzys and Cin Bal
Cin Bal is a BBQ - you choose your meat and extras, they then bring you a lit , ready to cook onBBQ and let you get on with it! Lovely gardens, waterfalls etc and cheap !!

Anyone been there from Kalkan? Whats the best way to get there and back?

From Kalkan I would hire a car for the day. The main road is easy and in good condition. Buy a map from the bookshop in Kalkan called "A map of Ancient Lycia" then you will find it easily.

ElJhem, We stayed in Kalkan and arranged to go to fetihye market on a dolmus. We went to the dolmus stand the day before and arranged it at the office opposite the bank. We managed to find another couple who wanted to go and on the day there were 5 of us plus a waiter from our hotel going. The driver asked if we wanted to go to Kaya Koy after the market but we all declined, I think as compensation, he took as through some of the villages off the beaten track which was different. there is no way a coach would have gotten through some of the narrowest roads and 90 degree turns I have seen in Turkey. When we arranged the dolmus we agreed a price before we comfirmed it. The price was reasonable, and we were able to enjoy the liquid refreshment.
I would imagine that a trip to Kaya Koy would be possible to do on its own.
There is also the option of Kamel Koc from Kalkan to fetiyhe and then dolmus to Kaya Koy.
Hope this helps.
