Decanting is a great idea and I keep meaning to do it. My major luggage weight is all the toiletries!

Instead of buying small travel bottles and/or decanting your favourite products into dinky bottles - when you know you have a holiday coming up and you're about ½ or ⅔ through a bottle of your favourite shampoo or whatever, just put the part-used bottle away for your holiday, use it all up while you're away and have no bottles at all to bring home (apart from your duty-free's of course)

I also pack every item of summer clothes I can find :?

I actually find all this packing rather stressful, as I always get it wrong
I bring most of it home unworn. It's only me and my 6 year old son, so I steal a fair amount of his allowance as well. But I still bring home unworn stuff for him.
This year I thought I would take him 10 pairs of shorts 2 long trousers, 12 shirts and 6 t-shirts. This is for 14 days. does that sound OK.

I haven't even started thinking about what to take for me.

I never bring home toiletries. I leave all but expensive face creams and make up there.

Well, my sign is Cancer, so why am I like this. Tonight I've been laying out holiday stuff and the bed in my spare room is stacked. Ihave just added my liittle clock ( I'm a clockwatcher during the night) and my personal stereo with earphones. I was just about to add my wee radio incase it would pick up more stations than my p.s. and thought "this is just ridiculous", and left it out. Didn't I do well getting rid of one item :?:

for cyberspacekadette
my understanding of the rules on liquids is that if the container is over 100 ml then it will have to go in the hold rather than hand luggage, regardless of how full it is.
i'm sure you are aware of this, but when i was reading this thread about people decanting liquids i thought maybe it could get confusing for some not so seasoned travellers.
if i take hold luggage i do this as well - it leaves room for ciggies on way back :D

Well I bung it all in but I don't pack too much, I don't allow myself to. I'm really rather good at not taking too much, but the toiletries seem to take over completely is all!

When I returned from Turkey the other year my wheeled holdall weighed 9.5kg (obviously a lot of toiletries had been used or left by return time).

Mix and match is the key!

Hi Digby. YOu did do well! I start out with good intentions but usually end up taking everything. I don't suppose it will be any different this year. OH well, I've never been overweight yet.
