Last year, we (me, wife and 2 year old) took £1000 spending money with us, and brought back just under £300.

We were HB in Port El Kantaoui, so were buying lunch/snacks/drinks each day, and went on Holiday company trip to Friguia Park, and brought back loads of Souvenirs.

We took our spending money half in cash and half in Travellers cheques - we used the cheques first, so that we would bring back any leftover money as cash, and not need to change cheques back in the UK.

The Bank was open at the airport when we arrived, so managed to change some cash to dinars as we waited for our luggage off the plane.
