I hope John does not mind
RAC routeplanner will give you a route from your front door to your desired location
However an OAP from where I live drove over to fethiye to see his ladyfriend who was holidaying there, stayed one night and drove back without any problem and said that everyone he met ALL the way was very helpful.
It's something that I have considered but SWMBO has vetoed it.
Just thinking though, coming from Glasgow wouldn't it be easier to cross to mainland Europe via newcastle or Hull.
Hull to rotterdam is a brill crossing and you are straight onto the motorway network, arriving in Rotterdam at about 8-30 am bright and fresh. A bit pricy though.
If you have to go via dover the tunnel is better than the ferry and only costs a few quid more.
sorry cant help with tolls etc across europe but I have noticed on occassions Turkish trucks parked up at hamilton service on the M74 ( northbound)so if you are passing there anytime just have a look and maybe a word with the truckers.
please keep your suggestions coming they are greatly appreiciated also would you book your accomadation or wait till you get there we do have friends that work in a bar in marmaris (turkish head chef in madboys and owners of flares)
thanks paul
no idea where I got glasgow from!!!
just another thought. if you shop at tescos and collect the points, you can exchange them for 4 times the face value and use them for P and O ferries from Hull (not Dover) or the tunnel.
Just a thought if you do go ahead and drive to Turkey, just check with your insurers that you are covered by your insurer's on your geen card. We had a chap driving to Turkey and I had to refer to underwriters just to check that the countries he was travelling through were covered by the green card.
