Hi Peaty - look at the website http://www.nomarmiteintunisia.com and you will see the up to date weather info on Tunisia. It is run by Melanie - an expat now living in Nabuel. Jenny x (Bet you wish you were still there Aslemma! )

Oh yes Jenny, particularly today when it is so chilly here after the sunshine we had yesterday. Roll on October
Incidentally, that link doesn't work - try http://www.nomarmiteintunisia.co.uk/

Aslemma, youre the expert that can help me :D

Is the heat in Tunisia like a 'dry' heat? I cant really explain what I mean only any time I was in Greece or Malta or Turkey in July or June, I just couldnt take the heat. But, in Egypt (Taba) the other year, it was much warmer - in the 40's and I was grand! It was how I would describe 'very very warm' but not 'hot' like in those other Mediterranean countries.

Do you know what I mean?

Unfortunately it isn't a particularly dry heat, which is why I don't go out during high summer. I was speaking to a friend there today and he told me it is 50º at present. :sun :sun

:( :( oh no! 50deg, I may stay in my room the whole fortnight!

According to the forecast it looks as if it is the high 30s, so perhaps my friend was teasing. I usually go in April/May and again about October. Have a look at this - sorry I can't do nice neat little links:

Hi All :)

Don't want to worry anyone too much but my sister flew out to Skanes last night and apparently it is very hot there now. It seems they are getting that sahara wind (cant remember the proper name) at the moment. The BBCi weather has it at 48oC today. She says it's like theres no air at all.

Jilly don't worry too much about the heat as the sahara wind usually passes after a few days. We have been many times in July and find the heat to be bearable, I have never been to Spain or any of those countries but have been to Egypt and found it to be hotter than Tunisia but a similar kind of heat, not like the clammy kind of heat we get here on the odd hot days.

Anyway enjoy your hols. See you there in 2 weeks!!

Hi Jilly, You certainly like to be organised don't you. I usually have a reasonable idea of what I intend to take, lay it on the bed and stick it in the suitcase a couple of hours before I leave home, then put the case on the scales and start again (or practice my most ingratiating smile for the check-in staff if it is still over-weight). Passport and tickets will have been in my handbag for at least a week previously I then only have to remember which handbag they are in. : :rofl
Incidentally, I've spoken to a friend there again today and he says it is unbearably hot at present - I only wish they would send some sunshine here as it's blooming miserable.

Hi Aslemma, to be honest this is the first year Ive packed in advance for ages! Cos I usually forget what is packed and like you, I put away the tickets somewhere so safe I forget where they are.

Oh gosh, unbearably hot.

Will do a rain dance when Im there lol

If you go to uk.weather.com and set Tunisia as location you can find a 10 day weather forecast together with useful climate statistics. Monthly max/min temperatures, hours of daylight, rainfall etc. Clicking on a specific month will then give you day by day stats. Hope this helps.

Got back from Port El Kantaoui on Monday and all I can say is thankfully it got a bit cooler after our first day out there :) !!

On our first day it was hitting 50oC during the day and around 40-44oC at night!! After that it cooled a little and for the duration of the holiday it ranged between 28 and 33oC. Our last day was noticeably hotter than the preceeding few days but that had alot to do with the Sahara winds.
