I wonder if you could give me an indication of weather in September (14-21st) I was looking on Wunderground and realised it was showing me Corfu New York and thought the weather wasn't great.
Is it still warm, dry etc and things open?
hi sooze29, we went to Corfu last year on the 26th september, we stayed in Sidari and everything was open and out of the 7 days we were there we only had one really bad day it rained so much we had to paddle back to our apartment after our evening meal, but the next morning it was fine again.
Mozzies are in full force in September having had all summer to breed.
Everything will still be open, some bars and restaurants start closing at the start of October but not before.
Hi we've been to Corfu twice in September around that time and the 1st week was fab the second week was bad the last 4 days it was exactly the same both years and the locals say it is always like that, we went to St Spyriden (Blue Bay Escape) which is most northern it could be different further south of the island. Have a fab time everyone unfortunately we are not able to go in term time anymore so it has been egypt for us since 2006 alot cheaper in the school hols and guaranteed sunshine
the first two days was heavy rain but then the weather improved.
You are nearly always guaranteed a storm or two in September. They usually come across the mountains of Albania and deposit on Corfu, But DO NOT let it bother you. As soon as it is over get out and enjoy the fresh, clean air. My wife and I were caught in the worst storm that any of the villagers in Acharavi can remember, last September. Though only 200 metres from our accomodation, the water was rushing down the road to the sea. We were in the Skondros Taverna on the beach. About 1 O'clock the rain had stopped but the water was still about a foot deep and rushing down. We made to go and risk it but the Taverna owner would not hear of it, got his car out and drove us to our apartment. Typical Greek hospitality, wonderful. We have a laugh about it now so just do the same and tuck the memories away for later. Get there and have a great holiday. Peter Pan of Acharavi.
