hi becs, we have done a couple of late cheapies, always in september. you find the prices drop during this month anyway as soon as the school holidays end. rightly or wrongly, we have always tried to use one of the main companies such as first choice or thomson and done the whole booking uorselves on their web pages. doing it this way you can be sure the price you see will be the price you pay and you get a clear break down of what you are actually paying for. a friend of mine has just booked with firstr choice on their site on saturday for a departure next week for 2 weeks in halkidiki, greece, 2 adults, s/c 3* well reviewed apartments day flights from MAN, all extra charges etc included- £320 for the pair of them all in including some under occupancy!
ps/ try to hold out until about 2 weeks before you want to leave-if you can hold yourself back!!!
We will be looking at booking at the beginning of Sept for the middle of the month.
Feeling much more relieved now that we will get a bargain.
Thanks hun......
Oh and another silly question...
the price of collecting your ticket is included in the final amount so no worries there, it's about £15 i think, when we got ours there was a seperate desk in the check in area-no queue really and then just go straight to check in, worth paying for tix at airport compared to what you can save on the hol-and if i were you i would price up with your little girl as an adult too, as it is often very cheap to share as 3 adults last min
Oooh thanks for that info!
We booked a late deal in may, just 10 days before we flew out to cyprus.
Booked with eclipse direct on line. It was the first time we had done a late deal. All went very well. Once booked received an e-mail which we printed off. Took this with us to the airport, collected tickets from there desk. Put laggage labels on, checked in then felt we could now relax.
We stayed at The Olympic Lagoon lovely hotel. We saved about £500.00 on the original ticket price.
Do you research before you book. If you go with one of the big companys you should be fine.
Have a great time.
Thanks for the tips guys!
Mark is set on going back to Cyprus...i'd love to go so seems that will be our first choice!
Slightly nervous about booking it last minute -it really cannot come fast enough....
Here is another example a holiday to turkey came up £1165 with latedeals and on thomsons web site the price was £1500
Funny thomson on their home page when you click holidays it takes you to build your own holiday, I have found one needs to click on hotels only then on the drop down menu click sun holidays to get up their normal brochure booking page.
I have just come back from a holiday to Turkey booked 8 days before we went.I booked it from Thomson teletext pages and the invoice was from late deals .co.uk.It cost £239 including everything, including 20kgs baggage allowance, booking fee, ticket on departure etc. They didnt charge extra for using a credit card. The web price was £459 and brochure price £530.These deals are only available on Teletext.
We knew we were going to book a late deal and so I had everything prepared in advance and all I had to do was pack the cases.
We compare prices etc by using this site:
http://www.me.am/latedeals.php
Some good deals on there for july which I can see selling fast at the prices they are offering. With the bad weather more people decided to book last minute and there are not as many deals as last year when we were blazing hot and the world cup was on.
You should look build your own holiday on thomsons, booked one £926 and then changed to different after a heated discussion with thomsons had to pay £997 but they waived the admin fee of £150. The annoying thing is I was deciding between the 2 hotels and if I had picked the one I am going to now on the 10 july it would cost £942 but they want £1100 for the same holiday and on thomson brochure web site the is closer to £1500 and on late deals it was £1400 so can't complain what I paid for a platinum hotel.
I phoned Thomson teletext for my friend who wants to go to Turkey in July and there were quite a few good deals, the best one being the AI pricebreaker which included the OLU deniz resort,Bekcekiz beach and Club Turban for £319.
All of you have answered the exact question I was looking for!
I also want to do a late deal in a few weeks (never done it before) so keep thinking should I just book something before I crack! But after what you have all said I will wait and grab a bargain! (I hope!)
I just want some nice warm weather, a beach, a pool and somewhere nice to eat every night.
thanks all of you for your help
