If you buy it from the duty free shop in the airport of departure in the UK and you are flying straight to Sharm then you should face no problems - anything else and it may be confiscated for security reasons when you are boarding your flight.

I would even be wary of of putting it in your checked in luggage. It could break or burst, and, worse case scenario, as happened to my mother recently when flying from Guernsey, you could have your checked in luggage also searched. She had a jar of salt in her luggage ( not her hand luggage ) and the security officer wanted to investigate it, claiming that she thought it was a liquid.

Hi
Thanks for that, one question though, if its not advisable to put in hand luggage, where can it go? Just hold it in the carrier bag?

Thanks

Michelle.

Michelle... sorry, but you cant do things like that anymore. My miother is with me here at the mo and she did bring me Daddies Sauce and Sarsons Malt Vinegar in plastic bottles which she brought over in her checked in luggage. ( The salty story was on the trip before at the end of January ).

The Malibu can easily be put in plastic bottles and put in your checked in luggage. The cider ? Change your drink habits... the beer is not too bad - try a shandy with Sakkara Beer and Fayrouz Apple - just an idea ! Or try the Vin de Messe fortified wine with Sprite.

Hi Michelle,

Just buy the Malibu at airside then you'll be ok!! Then its in a duty free bag

I was going to take a bottle of lime cordial in my case... is this a no no too, or should I take in in my hold luggage? I am not sure of the amount of liquid you can actually take onboard, shall need to check this out. I really cant drink the lager with anything but lime added, and got lots of strange concoctions when I asked for this in previous years... pieces of lime, lemon etc added!!!!! However I found out that Lime cordial is pretty expensive to import so they dont stock it generally. I do like a nice glass of savignon blanc but know I wont find that there.

I took 2 boxes of wine to Sharm last september, bought from the duty free and had no problem, just carried them on as usual :)
