My favourite restaurant is Lime Tree. It is in Rua 25 De Abril just after the chinese restaurant which is also fairly good. The following website shows where most places are.
When we went (1997, 1998 and 2006) we liked to eat at the Opocco (probably not spelt right, but thats how its pronounced). It's along the beach front from what I can remember.
Thanks for the suggestions. I understand you can walk to Lagos, is this correct?
From what I remember, my parents did walk the first and second year we went. Due to having small children, we haven't done this. I may be remember other holidays though!
It is about 3-4 kilo meters to Lagos along the cliffs, with a fair climb at the start. If you enjoy walking then certainly but it is not a stroll. I have never done it myself although I have walked the other way to Burgau as there is no hill to climb at the start. This is a very popular and picturesque walk.
With regards to walking to Lagos, if you mean a scenic walk then the advice above is correct. There is also a bus that runs to Lagos (late throughout the summer) and a taxi will be about €8-€10.
Hope you have a great stay.
Going in to days and what footwear do I pack? What are the pavements like there? In Albufeira they are lethal and all my posh sandals stayed in the case. Do I need to take my non slip old ladies sandals so I can walk about?
Most of the streets have the usual cobbles which does make walking in high heels a little difficult. I am in PDL just now and the weather is hot and sunny. Have a nice holiday
My high heel days are over but will come prepared. See you Tuesday
Does anyone know if there is any tennis in or around?
There are lots of tennis courts in PDL but I do not know of any puplic ones. They are attached to various hotels like Ocean Club etc. and may be available for hire.
Its not public courts as such, as you have to access the Ocean Club Site, but presumably you don't have to be staying there as long as you are willing to pay. This is assuming it has not changed since Mark Warner took over.
Regarding eating out, if you are there for a fortnight it might be worth getting a cab into Lagos a couple of times for a change of scenery, its a lot more lively than Luz, but then again I suppose it depends on what your preferences are, re busy v quiet
