Thinkin of bookin 2 week holiday to Ayia Napa at end of August stayin in a hotel on BB basis, its just me n my partner.
I hear all these stories of Cyprus being so expensive .
So could anybody tell me average prices for drinks and meals.
I normally take about £900 for two weeks when i go other places and i am wonderin will this be enough in Cyprus?
Any advise would be appreciated, thanks xx
Have a look at this site where a number of local bars etc have their own pages http://www.discoverayianapa.com/
hope you enjoy
If I recall correctly from last September (...and it can sometimes get a little fuzzy !) a decent beach bar such as Christatso's on Liminaki Beach will charge you C£1.60 (call it £2 english) for a large bottle of local beer (Keo, Leon, Carlsberg (there's a Carlsberg brewery on the island, hence the 'local') - draught is cheaper) and pretty much the same prices will be found in 'hot' tourist spots round the Square etc. but there are dozens of places where a draught pint will be found for C£1. It's relatively cheaper to drink pints than halves - C£1 a pint, 80c a half or C£1.60 a large bottle, C£1.20 a small bottle. Same thing with spirits and cocktails, where the price will vary between 'ordinary' bars where the spirits are local and the cocktails of the 'ready mix' variety and the 'specialist' bars (Seasons, The Lobby Bar) where the cocktails are hand made etc.
As for meals I also don't think we've ever spent over £30 for the two of us (including wine and drinks) and we ate our evening meals in 14 different establishments in 3 weeks there last year.
Must admit we've always had a budget of £100 a day, but we've always brought money home (A few hundred pounds in September AND we'd hired a top of the range Jeep for two days AND bought my wife a white gold dress ring).
Ayia Napa is a marvellous, friendly resort. It isn't all just clubs and night life (but there IS plenty of that). If you're thinking of going for a beach holiday please don't take the easy route and visit the same beach everyday, there are 5 seperate beaches all within easy reach and all with there own character. If you're centrally based Liminaki Beach will probably be the closest but Sandy Bay, Nissi, Landa and Macronissi are all within easy reach (you can walk to the first two if you're up for a decent 20/30 minute walk) but all are well served by the local buses and a taxi to Landa/Macronissi will only be in the C£5 range. You could also visit Protaras for yet another change of scenery for about the same amount (although I'm not sure about that because I've driven there the last few times we visited). If you're into sightseeing there is plenty to see and the roads are good (and they drive on the 'correct' side of the road) a leisurely 2.5-3 hour drive will get you to Paphos (Tombs of the Kings, Sea Fort, Mosaics etc.) We'd also recommend Kourion although it's almost as far as Paphos - it's much more secluded and less crowded but with almost as much history.
Hope you decide on Cyprus. I don't think it will be a mistake.
cheers boothers , the knowledge of local drinks and prices took many holidays of hard research , off again studying in mayhe knows what he's talking about that man

The 'Boothers Guide to Ayia Napa' contains about 110 drinking establishments at the moment ( ). Hoping to add to it in June/September again too.
