Exchange rate today is TDN 2.47/£1 - 1 dinar about 40p. A decent bottle of red wine (e.g. Magon) in a hotel restaurant will set you back about TDN 14/18 though you can get it a lot cheaper in the supermarket. Imported spirits are quite dear.
On average, we were getting 2.45 TD / £.
We didn't buy any wine or spirits but again, on average we were paying the following prices at out Hotel (Sol El Mouradi) and at cafe's/restaurants:
Pint of local beer (Celtia) - 4.600 TD (circa £1.88 )
300ml Bottle of beer (Celtia) - 2.800 TD (circa £1.14)
Small bottle (250ml) of Coca Cola - 1.750 TD (71p)
We did look at the pricelist in out hotel bar for spirits, and the prices were very high - example: shot of whisky was averaging between 10 and 15 TD (£4 - 6) depending on brand, and most of the cocktails were between 7 and 9 TD (£3 -4)!!
One thing to be careful of, regarding Beer - in/around PEK, only some restaurants are allowed to sell alcoholic beer - most places selling non-alcoholic.
The bars in the hotel tend to sell alcoholic beer, but it seems to be places that serve food, generally do not sell alcoholic beer.
Anyway, hope this helps.
MJ
